Dreamland operators enter trading administration

Hopefully they'll make it through, but I can hardly say I'm surprised.

The park's really nice it's just small and very out of the way.

Dreamland Margate is very much like a country pub. Everybody wants one but they don't use it. The articles say it'll be business as normal so there is hope. It does irk me slightly when I see enthusiasts go week in week out to Alton Towers but can't be arsed to spend one of those weekends visiting Margate. Yeah, I realise it's out on a limb but use it or lose it. Hopefully it'll be a smashing summer and people will head to Margate in their droves.

Again, as others have said not surprised to hear this but not terribly pleased to hear it either. Popped over there for the first time last week, great little park with a unique retro twist to it.

3 things that come to mind here:
-Obviously they've spent a lot to get it going so that's to be expected but a lot of money seems to have gone in marketing/rebranding...just hope this isn't a waste and that the retro branding is bringing people in. I saw people visiting last week in 50s dress so I gather that it is interesting people.
-Not opening the scenic on time is certainly going to have had a negative effect.
-I wonder whether if they had made a better effort to add another decent permanent rollercoaster they would have had more business??

Sounds positive. Maybe in the short term they should appeal to stag/hen dos, make it the Blackpool of the south.

Apparently they're still going to be opening 2 new vintage adult rides later in the year, so it can't be all bad news.

One thought though, I wouldn't be too surprised if any potential new owners try to steer clear of the whole vintage amusement park thing.

This is one go the biggest blown out of proportion stories going. It's really not what you're all reading and the park will stay open.

They've finally seen sense with their current pricing structure, and from this Saturday it will be free to enter the park, and you'll also have the choice to pay per ride!

Pay per ride makes so much more sense for seaside parks. Most casual visitors to Margate will only want to do the Scenic or the big wheel, and paying a fortune to get in was never going to work. When people go in now with the intention of doing one or two rides hopefully they'll be tempted to do several more. I really hope this works for them.

It'll also benefit the franchised business' in the food courts, all parties are happy with this decision!
