Dorney to get Invertigo in 2012

South Whitehall planners are recommending township approval of Dorney Park's plans for a new roller coaster in 2012.

There's still no name on the books for this mystery ride, which park representatives described as an "inverted boomerang" roller coaster Thursday at a Planning Commission meeting.

But park spokesman Chuck Hutchison said the ride is similar to Invertigo, a roller coaster that's being removed this year from a California park owned by Dorney parent Cedar Fair LP. There's also an Invertigo coaster at King's Island in Ohio, he said.

Hutchison wouldn't confirm the 138-foot ride is coming from the California park, but said the ride is coming out of Cedar Fair's inventory.
Should fit nicely where Laser once stood.

I feel sorry for Dorney, constantly getting other park's cast-offs...

Doesn't help that Invertigo was DIRE.

They're just turning that corner of the park into Shuttle Row between Possessed and now Invertigo.

Actually, thinking further, that entire causeway will be filled of hand me down rides from other CF parks!

KI's Invertigo is pretty fun. I think the Dorney public will enjoy the new ride.

^I can't speak for KI's, but, this one, the one from CGA was as absolutely rough as tits. I REALLY wouldn't be too excited for it!

KI's was perfectly fine.. nothing incredibly bad. I suspect the move may make the ride smoother.. maybe.. let us pray..

First time I've ever typed this, but LOL.

Similar my arse. Same **** ing thing more like. Oh well, I suppose anything is better than nothing.

Actually, scratch that. These coasters are pretty dire. I almost think the regular boomerangs are better to be honest.

Ok, bring on the "why are enthusiasts so negative all the time?!" comments...

^Steel Force and that Impule coaster are decent enough as well.

I liked Dorney. It's a shame they keep getting fobbed off with these castoffs to be honest.

^Agreed. SF was okay and Possessed was good when it was at Geauga Lake.

They've only received two unique coasters in the past decade.. Talon and Hydra. The first was great.. the latter? Meh..

I feel like Hydra could have been great if it wasn't so effing rough. I mean, it was the main reason I wanted to visit the park and I was so excited to ride it, and then it turned out after the jojo roll I couldn't wait to get OFF of it.

^I didn't find it rough; it's just crap.

Anyway, new coaster. Should be good for the park, (insert generic comment) etc.

Wow, Dorney must be the park with the most inverted coasters in the World (cheap record? yes!).

I think that some other CF parks needed the Invertigo a lot more than Dorney (Michigan Adventure, for example).

^Well.. if you count 'feet dangling' as inverted.. that would be SFMM as they have 2 4D's.. but straight up inverts.. I believe DP is king once this one hits the pavement.

This spells the death of CGA. It's an undesirable park for CF, they've been trying to discard it ever since the ordeal with the 49ers started. In my opinion, they are starting to gut the park, just like they did to Geauga Lake.

Does a park need 2 shuttles, and 3 inverts? I mean I'm excited for a "new" ride, but they already have Talon, and a Possessed. Now they're getting a third invert (covering all 3 major manufactures) plus a second inverted shuttle. Something about it just doesn't seem right.

Well to be honest.. a Boomerang isn't that much in common with the Intamin shuttles.. besides the fact it goes back in forth.

The Invertigo trains have arrived at the park, so it looks to definitely be CGA's that's going up at Dorney even though the park refuses to confirm it just yet.

According to RCDB, the Dragon Coaster has been removed, though I doubt it has anything to do with Invertigo's arrival as the "new" coaster will likely be located across the path from where the Dragon coaster stood. Don't worry if you didn't get the Dragon Coaster cred, as the park has always been very strict on the height limit & Brad couldn't even get that one. :p
