Everyone with a brain-cell will know about the Earthquake in Haiti and the requests for donations being shown everywhere.
My question is, do you donate (money or otherwise) to disaster funds? I ask this specifically about disaster funds, as charity donations during 'non-disaster' times are a different issue.
I never donate to foreign charities when there isn't a major disaster. I'm of the opinion that charity starts at home and there are many, perfectly deserving charities, in the UK that would receive my donations from sponsorship, charity events in school etc. However, in times of need like this, I (well, we strictly do it as a family donation) always donate.
Think about it, if everyone in the UK gave only £1, we'd be able to give over £60million. £1 is nothing to each person, and I know people could give more, and imagine if the same happened in the US, Canada, France, Germany... need I go on?
So, do you donate to disaster funds?
