2016 - New Attraction Planning - (2/7/14) A video shot at ACE No Coaster Con 2014 in Chicago a few weeks ago featured a presentation from Dollywood’s own Pete Owens. If you jump ahead about 21 minutes into the video Pete talks a bit about the future of Dollywood.
To be specific, he says they are already looking into a major new attraction to come to Dollywood in 2016 that will be in the same price range as Wild Eagle. So we’re talking about something in the $20 million price range… so the future looks very bright for Dollywood indeed!

So if its around $20 million, then I assume it will be a B&M. What do you think we could be looking at? An inverted maybe? As for where they would put it, they should install it on the left side of the park near the front. The park needs an attraction in that area! But no matter what it is or where it going, this sounds exciting indeed!

^ On the contrary, a number of other roller coasters carry a $20 million price tag. That is not an indicator of B&M.

However, with a $20 million price tag, we can definitely rule out RMC. Those retail for $10 million.

Where the hell are they going to fit it, that's my question.

Blazing Fury's my bet.
Nah, I disagree. Blazing fury doesnt reslly take up that much space. Not to mention the ride isn't exactly in a good location for a new attraction. They have space for whatever it may be. They could put it pretty much anywhere on the left side of the park. That area I feel is neglected and has practically no attractions down that path. It's almost separated from the rest of the park. It needs a good attraction, and that could liven things up.

Shun the heretic!

I will begin the speculation with proposing an Intamin Blitz LSM, on the order of Maverick or Cheetah Hunt. That would be a fun fit for the park.

^ Doesn't their new coaster for this year have a launch and a lift hill too though? I Know it's a family coaster, but still...

With inflation... I bet a lot of coasters are starting to creep to the $20mill line.

IE: Magnum XL cost $8 mill in 89, but if it was built last year it would be north of $15 mill to build.

I'd like to also throw out the possibility of a dark ride. Though Blazing Fury is technically a roller coaster, a good traditional dark ride would be good. Possibly similar to Soarin', but themed to The Smokies. And knowing Dollywood, it would be innovative and pretty cool.

The beautiful thing about Blazing Fury is that it's a dark ride, (kinda) roller coaster, and water flume ride all rolled into one. That knocks the need for an indoor dark ride off the list.

It may be a Gerstlauer Infinity, but if you want to fit the terrain at Dollywood (which, being in the Smokies, has its obvious advantages) you can't really go wrong with a woodie. Yes, they have Thunderhead, but most parks have operated fine with two (or more, in the case of Holiday World, Knoebels, etc.) major wooden coasters for many years, anyway.

What I'd love to see: Another RMC.

Blazing Fury is a pinnacle of humanity.

Who wouldn't!

Also, Blazing Fury is a great time...I actually got a pop of airtime (somehow) when it came back up the hill, sitting in the very front car.

Not to mention the monsoon of water that crashes down on you, making you feel like the Egyptians chasing Moses across the Red Sea.
