Dodonpa POV's

Is anyone aware of why Fuji-Q won't let people bring their own cameras on Dodonpa? They seem to let people bring them other rides.

It is the fastest accelerating roller coaster in the world, 107 MPH in 1.8 seconds, so there is a 99.9% chance your camera is going to fly out of your hand and could hurt someone. Their other coasters are kinda tame compared to Dodompa, so I kinda see why. Oh yes, and this thread should be in "Q&A".

As this completely against the rules POV of DODONPA shows, it's **** dangerous.

Really? Eejanaika might have something to say about that.

Also, numerous posts in your other topic have pointed out to you that it's Dodonpa, with an n. There's really no excuse for continuing to get it wrong.

What about a mounted camera? Plus, it would seem like (to some people) that the G-Force would do something to the camera

Mounting isn't foolproof unless there's some way of actually screwing the camera on to the ride. The forces can (and have in the past) still knock sucker/gaffer tape mounted cameras off rides.

The actual forces don't do anything to a camera though. No moving parts, so there's nothing to be affected. You could potentially get magnetic interference on some rides (LIM/LSM), but you'd have to have an incredibly sensitive camera and even then, I just don't think it would make any difference.

And just to clarify, Fuji Q don't allow cameras on all the other rides. Just because people have got away with using them, doesn't mean it's actually allowed.

I wish some people would let people who know what they're actually talking about respond to questions like this, rather than rehashing incorrect information they've heard/read somewhere else, with zero actual first hand experience.

Fujiyama, Eejanaika, Takabisha? Not my definition of "tame".

Indeed.

Fuji-Q has some of the most draconian loose article policies anywhere. With the in-station lockers, I've been directed to take keys, wallet, and coins out of my pants pockets. (They do seem to target gaijin for this 'extra' attention, though.)

And that's all of the rides, not just Dodonpa.

Given the tripe I've seen you post lately, I don't think you should be questioning Nic's ability to read...

I said COMPARED to DODONPA.
Yeah, I still disagree. As fantastic and bonkers as Dodonpa looks, having ridden X/X2 I still refuse to believe that Eejanaika is more tame. Equal maybe, but not more.

Anyway, on topic. Watching that pov (and reading Tom/Gavin talk about it elsewhere) has made me more excited to ride Dodonpa than I've ever been about any coaster ever. That coupled with Eejanaika makes Fuji-Q the one park I most want to visit. Bring it on! :D

^ I think I know where those reports have come from, and it's bull ****.

If you're stupid enough to go on a Japanese holiday, then you deserve everything you get.

Go on a normal weekday and the only rides you'll wait more than 20 minutes for are the "big four" coasters. Most things will be walk on.
