How do, haven't posted on here for ages!

Has anybody applied for Disney's International College Program for 2010? I have! I got through the phone interview and have a Face to Face interview at Disney's UK HQ in Hammersmith, on the 20th November.
I'm applying to do operations - rides, as a friend of mine managed to operate Rock 'n' Rollercoaster for the whole summer last year!

Anybody else applied? Can't bloody wait!

I'm looking to, since I need to go to another college soon.

Going to Lansing to check it out later.

I always wanted to do something like that. Working for Disney would be the ultimate dream!

From what I have read they are extremely selective and damn right to, they can afford to be!

Wishing you all the best with your application. Keep us posted!

Cheers mate, yea they certainly can afford to be! I work within the leisure industry now and am literally Disney's biggest fan (I'm a shareholder in fact  ) so i've got alot to say for myself at the interview!

They are holding interviews all across the UK in random universities, only us Londonders get to have a proper disney interview at their headquarters, can't wait!

^Literally Disney's biggest fan? A very bold statement ha!

I was extremelty keen on this idea, untill I realised how strict they were, and the fact that it wasn't financially feasable in the slightest. All the wages practically go immediately into rent (and the remainder food) and the accomodation is absolutley appauling. The security is crazily strict, and the fact that you can't drink utnil 21 in America didn't cross my mind until I read their massive strict policy on alcohol within their accomodation. Then they said that I have to pay for all my flights and everything (which is fair doose, but then I thought I'd much rather just pay and have the holiday then pay and work there). After going through this welcome pack thingy I decided this definately isn't for me, and would much rather stay in this country and work towards my teaching career, doing things much more constructive for my personal career choice.

Nevertheless, all the best! I bet it will be an absolute ball, it just wasn't for me. I'm very interested as to how your interview will be structured! Somebody I know was actually a performer there last year, and she absolutley adored it, and I'm sure you will do too. :)

'Tis a bold statement - you're right!

I think alot of people have looked at the program and been put off by things, I've heard they don't treat you particularly well out there, but that's just part of life - getting used to ways different companies work is how you survive in your job!

As for the money - i can see what you're saying, but the highest pay is $8 an hour, you do a minimum of 40 hours a week and a maximum of 60, so $8x60 = $480 dollars a week, the most expensive accomodation is $108 a week, which leaves you with $372 a week, times this by the 12 weeks you're there - thats $4464 which isn't bad really, i'm not particularly doing it for the money, i'm doing it to have the experience, be able to put it onto my CV and to connect with Disney bosses which appears to be quite an important part of the program.

So - I got the job, I will be working on Attractions at WDW from June 20th 2010 to September 3rd 2010 :) Extremely happy, we don't find out with park or ride until we get there, but it's going to be an absolutely unforgettable experience!

I don't know you form Adam, but I am absolutely chuffed for you! CONGRATULATIONS.

I am somewhat jealous but nevertheless happy for you!

I hope it is everything you want and that you keep us posted on your progress.

Cheers guys, yea should be an absolute blast - i'm hoping to do a YouTube blog every few days while i'm out there, might be far too busy but would be cool, I'll have lots of chance to go and do some filming in Disney on my days off, we get free entrance to all parks! And i can go and get some credits on Hollywood Rip Roaring Rocking Whatsit, Sheikra, and any Harry Potter stuff that is around!

Will certainly keep you all updated!

When you wish upon a star (and all that) :--D

CoasterheadMatt said that he'll be there in the 'New to CF? Introduce yourself here!' topic. Will be interesting to have two CFers there & getting two different views on things.

I live in the US & I got accepted to the College Program for Spring of 2010 & got in attractions. I hope things work out for you!

Um, consider me inspired to apply.

Did you email or snail mail your CV?

And who wants to help me write a cover letter :S

Sorry Ben hehe.

In the UK, the applications are done through Yummy Jobs - http://www.yummyjobs.com, and the International College Program means that you have to be a student at an acredited UK university, and you must be returning to at least one year of study after the program ends. Also, anyone who wants to apply has well and truly missed this years applications - but the applications open in late august so if you fancy it, keep watching Yummy Jobs around that time!

Booked my flight today, Virgin Atlantic return to Orlando, £500! Now just got the CRB check, visa, Disney Assessment Fee and Medical insurance to pay!

Whatt....?

Why does their website say they're still accepting applications if they're not!

:(
