Disneyland Australia

Disney seem very eager to expand the amount of Disney parks around the World lately. I'm quite shocked to hear about this and am looking forward to hearing more information about it.

The link regarding the news is HERE

I never heard of this rumor, but it's cool. I give me a chance to plan a trip to see the Gold Coast WB movie land park and well as Disney. You know with the Marvel deal. This could mean that they can get some Marvel characters into these theme park, then the US. Maybe this could be the Villains park that as rumor for Orlando a while back. Anyway I love to see this there, maybe Texas would be next?

I hope if it happens its a full Disney effort and not a franchise deal.

I would probably visit it.

Regarding the new park in Orlando, there is still no plans for this within the next 5 years :(

I still hope for a Disney Park in the UK, but I feel Paris is just to close.

^^Ok, the way I look at it Marvel characters should not be used within the Disney parks, they just wouldn't fit unless they were maybe placed within a Studio themed park (which this isn't). It would just seem too un-Disney.

^Disneyland UK? Are you joking?

I agree no Marvel in a Disney park please.

Well it did nearly happen Peep, there were 3 options UK France and Spain. Infact right now I am sitting on land that the park was going to be built lol.

There were 2 choices in the UK, Rainham Essex and Rainham Kent. It did not happen in Essex due to the channel tunnel link, the A13 link and the marsh. It did not happen in Kent due to the wildlife. So Paris won.

I just wish there was information about it all on the web, but there is just nothing. Only people in the area remember the new about it all.

But it really did nearly happen.

They need a Disneyland Canada, sheesh.

But no, Australia definitely needs a new major theme park as they seem to be kind of lacking. So, if this comes to be, I expect it'll be really good, and some of the concept art looks pretty promising! It doesn't look huge but it still looks like it would have potential, obviously.

If this project ever did happen, then it would be a drastic rethink of the actual theme park, we just don't have the local population (Only 22 mil across an area larger than Western Europe) nor the International Tourist numbers...The park would have to be smaller than HK even.

I have however got the site located based on those master plans, its at Pimpama: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&sour ... 15&iwloc=A
As the crow flies its about 5.7km north of Dreamworld.

Marc I am well aware of the previous plans for the Europe Disneyland to be in the UK but you made your post sound like we still needed one in the UK despite there already being one in Paris.

The article seems to know a lot of info on the amount of tourists etc Australia gets and I fully understand that it doesn't make a lot of sense for them to build a park in Australia. If it is smaller than HKDL like Gazza suggests then it would fail on an epic level. They haven't exactly done an amazing job in Hong Kong and now they are trying to compensate for this by adding an additional 3 lands over the next few years.

Also, I do believe they are building a resort in Shanghai. Soon Asia will have so many Disney resorts it'll just be stupid, the Disney parks won't have the magic and novelty value it holds now. I think there were also rumours for a Disney park in Dubai? I understand they want to expand the World of Disney resorts but it is just too much, they should concentrate more on the resorts they already have.

This rumor's been around for AGES. Sorry to poopoo on it, but it isn't happening. Maybe something like the Disney resort that is being built in Hawaii, but not a full park.

Just like 6F isn't about to build a park in Florida.

^^ Wow, wow, wow, thats a bit arsh, ain'tit?

DLP is great! Not that I've been to too many of the others to compare, but I've read soooo many reviews that pretty much say DLP's Magic Kingdom is probably the best one out there!

Anyway, this is good news, especially for Auzzie coaster geeks, not that there are too many.

We need one in the UK that doesn't suck like the Paris one does.

Eh?

Magic Kingdom Paris is great, needs one or two extra rides yes but what park doesn't?

Take away the exteriors at Studios and there are some (albeit a handful) of good indoor attractions...

Best Thunder Mountain, best Space Mountain, best Haunted Mansion, best Pirates...

Magic Kingdom needs stuff though soon what with the American expansions...

I like DLP, and to be honest, that one is in such close contact, they won't build one for the UK.

Nice for Australia, hopefully it'll be a good one, though dunno why Disney are expanding so much reccently. Are they planning to franchise the parks out?

Ben is quite right.

And how many have you tried to say that they're the best? I'll give you Phantom Manor, but the rest of your examples are absolutely not the best in the Disney chain.

Some people need to realise that Disney isn't just Magic Kingdom and that run-down nightmare in Paris.

The Hong Kong park is lovely, with new, original versions of classic rides. It was also the 18th most visited park in the world last year. Ok, it was the quietest of the Disney parks (it is the smallest after all), but most parks would kill to get those kinds of visitor numbers.

Peep I did mean I wanted one in the UK.

A proper full blown Disney effort.

Sorry though I read your post the wrong way before as well.

I actually feel California has the best BTM, Pirates and Haunted Mansion. Yes Paris looks better outside, but the ride is not as good inside and thats what counts.

Orlando has the best Tower of Terror and Paris one is not as good as California even though its the same ride!

Space Mountain I still dont know but its not Paris.

Now as long as its Disney building the park and not another company made of share holders I am sure it will be good.

Please bare in mind Euro Disney failed, hence the name change and it was so close to closing down. The French did not want the park, they even tried to stop it getting built.

Dont get me wrong I would probably have loved the park had I not been to Orlando, and had it not been the state it was in when I 1st went. I really like certain parts of the park, but I hate other parts so much. I think its much nicer in places than Orlando, but its not as nice as California.

Peep I know you love the park, but when you do go to the others you will see what we mean.

Anyway we better back on topic :) Just keep share holders and franchises away from any new Disney parks.

^^Gavin I've been to the two Disney lot in America, can see that in my count in the profile, and still think Pirates, SM and BTM are considerably better in Paris than in both American parks...

So I think I do realise there are other Disney parks but Paris is still a great one, as I said it's not without faults and needs new rides but don't just assume I've never been to the others, I wouldn't have made such a wild claim without having experienced the others, hence why I never mentioned ToT or RnR...

One of my pet hates in California was the layout being either extremely poor and other certain areas (Indiana Jones entrance) being incredibly cramped and crowded, and hence not very fun...

The American parks may be the classic ones, but I didn't get on with them as much as I have the Paris one... Just simple opinion...

^^Not necessarily though. Disney don't own the Tokyo parks but they're regarded, by people who've been to most/all of them, to be the best.

It would be a much safer bet for Disney to do it themselves though, yeah, considering Paris.

You're still talking as if you've been to all of them, though, and you haven't.

^I agree about the Indy ride 100% with you.

In fact we walked past it when trying to find it :)

But the space they have to work with in California is tiny compared to the other parks, so I think they have done a better job tbh. At least there are not paths with nothing on them apart from some random shops.

Sorry Gavin should have made my self clear, the far east ones are government funded if I am right. At least work gets done there.

From what I have read people tend to vote Disney Sea's as the best Disney park.

^I was making my points based on the American parks, probably should've made it obvious, and I'm not likely to hit up Japan for a few long years, so I don't know how Tokyo's layout/rides match up...
