Disney Hollywood Studios to be renamed

Guess he didn't see that one coming. :P
Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger has shown he’s smart enough to lead a giant media and entertainment company. But apparently, he’s not smart enough to know how to respond to a curious child.
At the Disney annual shareholder meeting, held Thursday in San Francisco, a young child in the audience asked Iger if the company would change the name of its Hollywood Studios theme park in Orlando. Iger confirmed that Disney would, only to realize that he wasn’t supposed to let the cat — or perhaps mouse? -- out of the bag just yet.
“Have we announced that?” Iger said to other executives on hand, according to a report in the Orlando Business Journal.
Hollywood Studios is a movie-centric theme park that celebrates films new and old. The park has been emphasizing “Star Wars” and Pixar pictures of late, so a new name could possibly play up that connection.
Of course, the name change wasn’t the real highlight of the meeting. The big news: Iger announced that there would be a sequel to “Frozen,” the $1.2 billion animated hit. He also said Disney would put a new policy in place prohibiting any depiction of smoking in a Disney picture with a PG-13 rating or below.
Still, the fact that Iger got tripped up by a kid prompted plenty of comments online, with most praising the child for being so inquisitive. “You go kid,” one Disney fan tweeted. “Can we get a few more questions?” said another on a Disney message board.

Hm. Very interesting. I'm pretty sure the name change has to do with the hat being removed.

I find it a little amusing that this happened but the name change was kinda inevitable, the name (which was only changed not long ago) has never sat quite well and has always been a constant rumour amongst the fan base.

The park is rumoured to be getting a California adventure sized redo so I'd expect it to happen along with that happening.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I thought the Hollywood Studios name wasn't that good of a name change to begin with and I still prefer the old "Disney-MGM Studios" name. Nonetheless, it's nice to see this happen and I'm excited to see the DCA-like improvements that'll likely occur in the park's near future.

I'm sorry to say but those believing Bob Iger said this by mistake are absolutely mind-numbingly stupid. He knew exactly what he was doing and saying...

I've never known it as MGM Studios to be fair. Only really been into this stuff since 2012 :P in face I didn't know until I read a post on here after I went in the summer. That's how **** a goon I am

I have literally no idea what they might call it though. Disney's Florida Adventure? :drinking:
