So I've been rummaging around my old website fright time (I still have all the files on my pc) and found tons of stuff I'd forgotten about including a few prototypes and patents from ages ago that never made it. The older among you may remember these but I suspect they be new to the more recent goon converts.
at IAAPA in 2000 Giovanola brought along a model for a tilt coaster which also rotated 90degrees. Having ridden Gravity Max I can only imagine how terrifying this would be.
Around about the same time Setpoint released the idea of a splitting racing coaster, although it was never built it later turned up in RCT3. The patent for this is still online here (with loads more images) http://www.google.co.uk/patents/US6269750
And again about the same time the small Japanese company Hoei Sangyo released the Sledgehammer design. This was slightly before the 4D coasters but had some similar aspects. From what i can gather the cars were like a zac spin and could rotate freely although were mounted on top of the track like a traditional coaster.
They even built a prototype of the first drop at their factory The proposed layouts insane.
They still advertise it here. http://www.hoei-sangyo.co.jp/roller_coa ... ter08.html although there are some images below which are no longer on their site.
I've got a few more to run through at a later date when I've sorted out the GB's of files I still have from this era.
Would be cool if anyone else has any old concepts that they think should have been built. Vekoma must have hundreds over the years
