Charlie Chaplin Mobile Phone "Time Traveller"?

There has been a video in Youtube which has sparked a lot of discussion and interest - it's a video which the user believes shows the existence of a time traveller in Charlie Chaplin's "The Circus" whom he believes is speaking on a mobile phone.

Check out the video - I do recommend watching it all the way through:

So, could a time traveller really be in the film on a mobile? Maybe she/he is just shielding her face from the sun? Maybe the director thought she/he was so ugly that they were told to cover their face? Maybe she is clutching thin air and talking to herself? Maybe it's Tupac or Biggie in disguise?

This does lead to obvious explanation of "If she was on a phone, she'd have no signal 'cause their would be no cells..." which would of course be pretty much true, and explain why she would be shouting "Can you hear me now?".

Is there more to the film than once thought?

Don't be so ****ing stupid. I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation.

You can't see the phone, therefore I'm sceptical.

Why do so many things I see on youtube show up on CF a day or two later?
At least most of them are in the The YouTube Thread or Things that make you LOL! topics.
Does this really deserve it's own?

It's not true.

Charlie Chaplin causes cancer!!!

Obviously it was The Doctor. His mobile works anywhere.

Actually, I'd really laugh if this is a very subtle viral ad for the new Doctor Who episode

But yeah, it's clearly a crock of ****.

Why are you reading the Daily Mail?

Like most of these viral things, they're created by twats for twats to enjoy.

Well, in my opinion, yes, as it is a topic of discussion rather than a "Hey, look what I found guys!" which is ultimately never looked at or appreciated ;)

Sorry for feeling like the non-coaster sections of the forums needed some more in-depth and quirky topics lately ;)

^And it's not in depth either.

So other than you lot saying it's crap, what is the perfectly reasonable explanation?

The Lizard People. Duh.

First of all, I support Ciall making this topic. I believe that we do need topics outside of the "catch all" topics. Even if 18 out of every 20 are tosh, it's worth it for those 2 good ones. Then if people feel comfortable and post more, then we'll increase the number of decent topics :)

This is a bit silly, a bit contemporary and something that's mildly interesting (onto its second page interesting in fact :) ).

Sadly, the mystery is very easily solved in this case:

Why she's talking in it to herself is beyond me, but she's certainly not talking to anyone else on a cell network either ;)

I think if you look at a lot of old films with background extras you'll see them behaving very oddly. It's simply because the industry was in its infancy and directors didn't control their extras. Simply grabbed people off the street in many cases, dropped them in front of a scene and told them to "walk about". This woman was obviously a bit of a rich nut showing off her new hearing aid :)
