CF named #3 best fan site!

Mushroom

Goon of the Year
http://rethemed.co.uk/2011/theme-park-fan-sites-top-5

CoasterForce was named the 3rd best fan site on rethemed.co.uk behind Valley Mania and gforce magazine.

CoasterForce has been a stalwart of the coaster community for a number of years, and in it’s latest incarnation we’ve seen a better navigation system, more content and the same high quality news, gaining it 5 points for content. The only problem with coaster force to our minds, is the layout still leaves a lot to be desired and the re-design could have been a lot more drastic to bring it up to date, especially given it’s immense popularity. The navigation still feels a little clunky, but otherwise it’s a great site.
Given that you can find a park guide for nearly every theme park in the world, you certainly have to congratulate the team on a job well done!

Well done guys!

Nice one team! :P
Personally I think it should be #1
And well done Tom G, ride rater is at #5!

^ Ha ha, thanks. The hypnotic effects of my 1998-era design appear to be working...

Sorry but any coaster site that is based on just one park alone does not deserve any kind of award. They're all full of fanboys and are frankly quite gross.

While there's certainly a stigma attached to specific park fan sites, I'd certainly like to think that Valley Mania offers an unbiased guide to Lightwater Valley.

To say we don't deserve any kind of award is a bit harsh. Myself and the team put a lot of effort into the site.

Seems a bit harsh there Taylor. While some fanboy sites are filled with people who.. well.. yeah.. I know a number of sites which are filled with, in general, a fantastic base of people. VM does a fantastic job.. no need to slight them.

Also I love the page design of LW's website.

Congrats to all website that were listed; it is always nice to receive recognition for hard work on a well-rounded website.

Not that this website is full of fanboys at times....

But we have a vast array of fanboys geeking out on many things, although we have got Ollie...

I just shut my self up. Dammit!

Not true I'm afriad. Well, the actual site may do that, but that certainly isn't the case on the forum.

Martyn, find me a forum that doesn't have its fanboys and I'll pay for you to visit Lightwater Valley.

Yes, Valley Mania has a few individuals who show little regard to finance, but on the whole I'd say discussion is pretty level-headed.

I'm sorry not all our members feel the need to nit-pick at the park as much as you do.

Lol, I figured a response like that was on its way. I dont nit-pick actually, I see things from an outsiders point of view, and on the whole I am mostly positvie about the park, yet I get stick if I dont agree with every little move the park makes. Basically, if your not a fanboy, you're not made to feel very welcome. Hence why I rarely post anymore.

(Ya know, you responding like that kinda backs up what I said)

I'll be the first to admit I don't know hardly anything about Valley Mania's site beside just checking it out now, but I really like the layout and it seems that the site flows well. Although, in defense of Coasterforce I must say there is a much higher complexity factor when trying to cover the entire coaster community. So basically I don't know enough about VM to count or discount it but to me there is a difference between park-specific sites and sites that cover the entire coaster community.

I never said the websites didn't look good, the design of Valleymania is quite good, but I didn't know I wasn't allowed to have an opinion. I personally don't like forums that focus their discussion on one park because everyone seems to like and dislike the same thing, everyone is a fanboy of that one particular park, and you just don't have any variety. I'm not saying this blindly either, I've been a member of many different single-park forums and they don't appeal to me at all. Yeah, every forums have fanboys, but I don't mind it that much when there are fanboys of different parks, whereas on these forums it's all fanboys of one place. Just not as much diversity really.

I don't think I was harsh to be honest. It's not like I said "Valley Mania in particular **** sucks and deserves to be taken off the web."

I think that the main site is excellent on all those listed ( ;) ), but VM is very neat and tidy - you can see the effort that's gone into it.

I don't have an issue with "fanboy forums" at all. If people love a place, then they are going to gather to discuss it. It really isn't a problem at all to let like minded people discuss the thing they love. Just because others don't agree doesn't make their opinion completely invalid. It's all good.

Plus, no "awards" would be based on how biased the forums are. The forums are simply a discussion point, as long as the main site remains unbiased (obviously, there will be a degree of bias from being close, but you know what I mean) and reports both the good and the bad then it's fine.

Well done to Nathan and his team anyway, good looking site and a really informative place to get LWV info.

Well done to all the others as well for some nice looking, accessible sites.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions; some more than others.

In fairness, you did say:

Which is a bit harsh. Regardless of any websites focus, a lot of hard work and long hours goes into its development, maintenance of content, etc.

It is worth celebrating a roller coaster website that is done right, whether its focus is on a single ride at a park or the entire world.

Well, like anyone, I'm entitled to my opinion and like I said, the websites are well done and visually attractive, I just think diverse coaster sites are far more interesting and deserving of an award. I never specifically said VM didn't deserve the award, I just said I didn't like biased coaster sites.

Honestly, who gives a flying fack about what websites some site no-one has ever heard of, which doesn't even know the difference between it's and its, says are good? YAY, it's great like, one person likes us third best, pass me a tissue...
