No idea if this was ever posted anywhere. But here's an interview with Candy Holland on Krake's website. I find it pretty interesting.

She started with Merlin 17 years ago! And worked on Oblivion and Air. There's a few other interesting things in there. Be aware though it's all in german, luckily my google chrome translated it automatically.

Heide-Park: How old are you? Are you married? Do you have children?
Candy Holland: I am 40 years old and single. Unfortunately I have no children - that I simply lack the time ... But I have great fun doing it, to ensure the maintenance of all young and old children, who come to our resorts.

Heide-Park: How long have you worked for the Merlin Entertainments Group?
Candy Holland: I started back when we still the "Tussauds Group" were what now is an incredible 17 years ago. It feels like yesterday! Although each project and design team completely in the world of resort-theme park is different, the time has flown by. This variety is extremely exciting - while I was in one minute or design a fun water fight attraction, I design the next one terrifying roller coaster for adrenaline junkies.

Heide-Park: What does a creative director?
Candy Holland: My job is at the strategic and creative direction and development of Merlin participate Resort theme parks. Simply put, I am developing with my team ideas and concepts for exciting and compelling new attractions in the resorts. From these we create detailed designs, which we then implement on-site. We work closely with our experts attraction, the Merlin's Property Development Group, and various other specialists and suppliers.

Heide-Park: Is not it very unusual for a woman a job, to design roller coasters?
Candy Holland Maybe - but on roller coasters have boys, girls, teens, moms, dads, grandmas and grandpas alike fun. And even if conceivable to design the scariest roller coaster experience, but put the real goal behind it, to make people laugh, fun to prepare for them, stand out from everyday life and create fantastic memories.

Heide-Park: What makes you at your job the most fun?
Candy Holland: Although I love the process of inventing and creating a new product, it satisfies me most when I watch our guests and listen, while experiencing a brand new attraction . There is nothing better than to simply observe just how they cry during the ride, laughing hysterically jump out and then run back to go one more time!

Heide-Park: Merlin invests 12 million euros in the octopus, which is at the stern of the most expensive construction?
Candy Holland: To be honest, it does not matter how expensive the construction of a business is driving. Worldwide, some rides have cost more serious than the Merlin attractions, but they often have less experience or value does not fit the corporate image. At Merlin's strengths is that the rides and attractions are guaranteed to be unique. The focus is to offer the guest the greatest possible experience ... We create world-class attractions, by combining the components of the ride, the scenic surroundings and the story in their design together.

Heide-Park: Why have they decided on a dive coaster? What is special in a Dive Coaster?
Candy Holland: This is no ordinary dive coaster. This dive coaster plunges almost vertically into the maw of a terrible monster. It is Europe's first floorless roller coaster with a vertical fall, a twist and a huge water effect. Passengers are strapped in a car with three rows of six seats, was promoted to highlight the track. However, the car has no floor, so your feet dangle in the air. In addition, the vehicle is wider than the web, making an indescribable feeling of helplessness and vulnerability arises ... until one falls vertically from a height of about 40 meters deep!

Heide-Park: Is there a special reason for your choice on a B & M coaster is like?
Candy Holland: Bolliger and Mabillard are the leading manufacturers of roller coaster technology, design and engineering, quality workmanship and also in the Industry highly regarded, so to speak, the Rolls Royce of the roller coaster manufacturers.

? Heide-Park: What is in the planning and construction of a roller coaster unlike a house or other things
Candy Holland: A roller coaster affects all the senses - from the physical exhilaration of the G-forces and the "wind in the hair "to the psychological impact on the imagination. This combination works with the general atmosphere, which is generated through the story, the sights, sounds, smell, touch, the special effects, interaction with other inmates together and makes roller coasters and other theme-park cars as memorable and unique.

Heide-Park: What projects of Heide Park and other famous parks have been you been involved?
Candy Holland recently supported the Merlin Creative Team Heide-Park in the design of the Maya Valley and the new pirate-water battle. However, many roller coasters I've designed within the Merlin Group ... to name a few examples: Oblivion, Air, Rita and TH13TEEN in the Alton Towers Resort and ... Stealth SAW from Thorpe Park

Heide-Park: Why have you chosen a pirate theming?
Candy Holland: The long-term construction projects include the placement of Heide Park and his resort, which also includes the integration of the Hotel Port Royal. Therefore we decided to expand the pirate theme of the hotel on the park, which has already led to the construction of the new ToPiLauLa battle in the 2010 season and also the theme for the new ride. But be warned, her 2011 hit in the bay of pirates no friendly pirate skull and crossbones, but gloomy, cruel ruler of the seas!
