I've been struggling to sleep at night because I've been pondering if people refer to these...

...as dodgems or bumper cars?

I reckon the more popular term is "dodgems", so let's have a little poll to find out.

Think: do you "dodge" on this amusement device? No, you bump, which is why I was raised to call them "bumper cars".

Call them Bumper Cars because that's what I'm used to calling them because I hear GP say it all the time. Sort of like losing an accent. Don't Brits say Dodgems over there and the Yanks say Bumper Cars? I prefer Bumper Cars anyway.

I don't particularly have an issue with either. I guess I'm naturally more likely to say dodgems though. At least these days anyway. I get the feeling I used to tend more towards bumper cars when I was younger.

Anyway, yeah, whatever, for once with one of these either or things, I actually don't have a massively strong opinion either way.

Roller Coaster Tycoon says Dodgems. The end.

In all seriousness though, if there are rules that say you're not supposed to hit the other cars, they're dodgems. If you're actively encouraged to have RAGE, they're bumper cars. Simples.

Bumper cars.

Dodgems are a brand of bumper cars that were only made by one company. Nobody calls them Skooters, even though Lusse made the best bumper cars ever.

They're dodgems because you're not allowed to bump any more.

I tend to change depending on who I talk to really, don't have one or the other.

Bumper Cars <3

I don't understand the new operations of bumper cars though... A lot of parks don't allow you to "bump", even though thats the nature of the attraction. Silly Billy's.

I grew up calling them Autoscooter until I learned that they are bumper cars. Never heard of dodgems until I went to Cedar Point.

Where do you live? British folk consider them to be Dodgems, while us Americans consider them to be Bumper Cars.

100th post! Not like anyone cares :P .

Anyway, bumper cars is what I've always called them. I don't know, I just don't know if Dodgems sound right. Just me I guess.

I think most people in the US call them bumper cars. They may refer to them as Dodgems if it's the name of a specific attraction at a park.

I don't understand why the US term would be bumper cars as you guys have fenders not bumpers.

I used to call them bumper cars but everyone these days seems to call them dodgems and it's rubbed off
