British parks during the Olympics??

I'm planning a coaster trip in the beginning of August which will include parks both in Paris and England.
Some of the parks would be visited during the last days of the Olympics (obviously not the London ones), so I'm thinking on which order would be the best to do them in. I'm hoping that most people will be busy watching sports instead of visiting parks, which would mean less crowds for us.
I have problems deciding which direction we would loop the northern England parks after we rent our car.

So the question is, would it be worth to visit the more popular parks like Drayton and Alton Towers during (Saturday 11th, Sunday 12th respectively, according to my plan) or wait to the middle of the week after the Olympics end. Worth = less crowds?

I would steer well clear of London, check and see if there are any events on near Alton and Drayton. If everyone is at the event they made be traffic before and after, if the event isn't on when you are planning to go then there may be some crowds, it's hard to tell.

The closest we would get to London during the Olympics would be when we collect our car at either Luton or Heathrow (worst case) and then drive north, and then return back to London for the parks there the weekend after the Olympics.

The question still remains, Alton/Drayton or Fantasy island/other small parks close by/Flamingo/Lightwater, which would be the proffered parks to do the final weekend of the Olympics and which in the middle of the week afterwards?

I don't really think the Olympics are going to be that much of an issue - indications appear to be that general tourists visits will be down, while Olympic fans are only interested in the games. However, the likes of Alton Towers may be packed full of Londoners escaping the hoo-ha.

So, if I were you, I'd do AT on tues, weds, or thurs but it's still going to be quite busy.

Yeah that were my initial idea, Alton after the Olympics on a weekday, should be a lot quieter.
Since all the sport interested have gone home and the Londoners, etc have returned home, and everyone is just fed up with it all and is resting at home :)
I have visited English parks in August before many years ago, and I didn't find that it was that crowded then.
