I have found myself increasingly drawn to Take That recently; and my mates seem to be doing likewise. Especially now their music has become a lot more grown up and apparently popular amongst the younger generation. Now personally I've always rather liked them, Brit pop is always something that has appealed to me. But their new stuff is much more to my liking, most notably Said It All which bears remarkable similarities to Coldplay's style.

Which has made me want to ask which version do you prefer? Boy band of the 90's or Man band of the 00's? Discuss. :P

Arm band, because people who like nursery rhyme pop aren't old enough to swim yet, let alone lay claim to having a music taste ;)

Option number 3 for Mr furie then

Quite right!

Oddly, even though I don't like his stuff, I have a lot of respect for Robbie Williams as a musician (not as a person :P ). Take That are just pap for mums.

Man band.

Started liking them recently, as have most people I know. They do sound more like CP these days which helps, but obviously, they aren't quite as good as Chris Martin's band.

And that has to be the most imaginative and detailed set ever-two yellow squares and the words Coldplay-Yellow! Just a shame it's in the Viva font, not the Parachutes font, tut-tut, but thats enough CP nerdiness and pickiness for one day.

That is true. And it does suit the set somehow. I like it as much as you can like a yellow box with two words in ;)

Dad and I had this convo a few weeks ago. We both came out to each other as Take That fans.

Being a teenager when they were first around, I hated them, as did all the boys. Now they are older and more mature, it is seen as acceptable to enjoy their later stuff. Can't stand their 90's pap, it really is bollocks, but nowadays it's harmless, good fun, well written pop that's pleasing to the ear.

The man band stuff is best. But the boy band stuff reminds me of a bar in Portugal where they played Take that every night.

Exactly - it's entirely inoffensive, and infuriatingly catchy. Obviously, my music taste usually veers towards the more intelligent, or at least darker side, so of course, I'd love to hate new Take That - but it's just not possible, as it does a worryingly good job of infiltrating every mind, whilst offending the very minimum of tastes. Whilst old Take That, was indeed a bit too-boybandy, which is never good.

Take That are much more 'family orientated' now than they used to, when they were aimed at screaming teens girls. I personally love the songs and am not embarrassed to sing them :)

Man Band ftw

I voted for the third option. Then I realised that actually, their new stuff isn't terrible. The 90s stuff was mainly rubbish, but I hate boybands anyway, so that's not surprising.
