Bottom 5: 2009 Edition

nealbie

CF Legend
Ok, with 1 being the worst ride.....

5. Pepsi Max Big One - Ohhhhh airtime? It's not for everyone

4. Rita - Queen of Speed - Just why? It's bad enough as it is to be fair. Likened muchly to blowing up a balloon and letting it go. Perhaps that's what the imagineers did for inspiration?

Then the random bit at the end just to add insult to severe injury? Why?

3. Jungle Coaster - Was bearable with the roof down, but in coupe form, not so much. Who knew?

2. Mumbo Jumbo - It's horrific, but it would be harsh to class it the worst in the UK (especially based on what my worst ACTUALLY is  ). Nothing more than a glorified Wild Mouse. A pointless build really considering it's practically next to one as well

1. G Force - Why? Just, why? That is all.

1. Caterpillar Capers Southport Pleasureland
2. Big Apple Alton Towers
3. Caterpillar Coaster LWV
4. Big Apple Brean
5. Big Apple Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

This list goes on in a similar vein for quite some time Neal ;)

And a Bramley flavoured vein at that

Apart from all the Apple, Worm, Wild Mouse and Go Gator coasters my bottom 5 are:-

5. Trombi (Zamperla Volare), Särkänniemi – It was like being squeezed into a grill and then subjected to one of the most painful layouts ever.

4. Indiana's Lost World, Southport – The worst attempt at theming ever and an accident just waiting to happen. Complete crap.

3. Spinball Whizzer or any other spinners – They are all horrible coasters which should all be torn down. I’ve never enjoyed one of these and have only done them for the credits.

2. El Condor, Walibi – Ouch, ouch, ouch. I received some major ear bashing on this slc. The worst one I’ve done so far.

1. Tornado, M&D’s – What can I say, the roughest piece of **** I’ve ever been on. I ended up with some serious bruises after riding it.

If you wanna count kiddies, mine would go something like this:

1. Lil' Phantom- Kennywood
2. Jr. Gemini- Cedar Point
3. Howler- Holiday World
4. Big Dipper- Michigan's Adventure
5. Dragon Coaster- Beech Bend (in theory it should really be like, the worst one I've been on, but it was hilarious so it went up a few spots)

If we don't count kiddies and stuff, it'd be things like Son of Beast, Wild Beast, Cobra, possibly Monstre.. And yah. Stuff like that.

Excluding the obvious kiddie credits, mine goes something like this:

Mumbo Jumbo
Just....rubbish, and like has already been said, gimmicky glorified Wild Mouse. Blergh.

Corkscrew (Flamingoland)
Special mentions to this old rustbucket for almost dislocating my jaw earlier this year, kudos.

Looping TL 59 (Karolinelund)
The WORST Pinfair looper I've ever had the displeasure of being subjected to, my arse still hurts from that rough-ass piece of crap!

El Condor (Walibi World)
I never understood why people hated SLCs so much, until I rode this this. It just seems to think it's job is to shake you as much as possible, in every direction possible, while attempting a somewhat boring and over-used layout. Vekoma for the lose.

Daemonen (Tivoli Gardens)
The. Single. Biggest. Disappointment. Of. My. Life.
I hated it, everything from the stupid weather we rode it in to the helix oh 'why?!' before the drop. Forceless, pointless, disappointing B&M. I never thought I'd hate a B&M as much as I LOATHE Daemonen. The End.

Yay for Jordan! I did not want to ride the Demon! But it still happened :(

And glorified mouse indeed. Like Pikachu. But we love a good Pikachu :p (select few will lol at Pikachu times)

I don't think I can name five truly awful coasters I've been on. (Except the kiddy ones of course.)

Big Dipper at Blackpool was revolting. The experience could only be compared with descending Mount Everest on a jackhammer, I think my back was ****ed up for at least a week afterwards. Absolutely abysmal.

G-Force is total garbage as well. I do not like being squeezed so tightly that my internal organs have been displaced. At least it has the decency to be short.

I found Corkscrew at Alton to be terrible, its destruction had little sympathy from me.

Wild Mouse coasters (bar Blackpcool's) would be down at the bottom as well. Awful contraptions, especially Jungle Coaster at Legoland too. I mean, what is the point?

It's difficult to list coasters which I find truly awful. Out of that list I'd only say that G-Force and Big Dipper have made me want to never ride them again, as I always try and enjoy every coaster I go on.

Quite a difficult decision to pick the 5 worst coasters, since I have ridden so much crap. I'll give it a go..

256. Demonen, for reasons Jordan has already mentioned. She has summed up my veiw of this coaster perfectly.

257. SilverStar - the second biggest disapointment in my life, it is upsetting that a ride that looks that good can deliver so little, I need to reride next year until I give it a second chance to redeem itself, but until then, it can stay here.

258. Stealth - Although the neck cutting is not as strong as Ritas, and the ride is quite dull, launches generally bore me, the tophat is very inconsistant with the amount of airtime it gives, which is due to the nature of the ride, but i don't want to queue for 2 hours for like a 1/10 chance of getting some decent airtime, and don't get me started on the airtime hill.

259. Rita - Its a horrible rough, poorly banked/heartlined PoS that delivers all its airtime in the form of neck chopping.

260. G-Force - I do not like being crushed so hard that it distracts from the ride, it is the only coaster I can say that I will NEVER ride again.

Did someone sit at the back?

My bottom 5 are: (Excluding little kiddies coasters because it's not fair)

5 GForce @ Drayton, Too short, long queue, not much thrill at all.

4 Vampire @ Chessy - Still find it... anticlimaxing?

3 Space Invader 2 @ Blackpool, Okay - gone now, but Its boringness lives on in memory.

2 Shock Wave @ Brean - Yes quite fun, but the only thing I can;t stand on a coaster is PLASTIC SEATS! Who come up with this stuff!?

1 XWTF @ Thorpe - I do have fun on it, but only from having screaming competition, but you can do that on anything.

I would just like to point out that I actually love every ride you hand to me, so these are only minor complaints

5. Flying Frog - Kiddie.
4. Beastie - Kiddie rape.
3. Mean Streak - Brain rape + 3 day headache. I want matchsticks please. Might as well of stuck a jackhammer up my arse and called it a 'credit'.
2. Crazy Mouse - Its on brighton pier + ugly mouse thing.
1. Turbo - No. You hurt. You get stuck right at the bottom.

Neal is a moron. PMBO is amazing. It's in my top 5.

Coasters this bad I'd probably not ride ever again unless I was with somone who hadn't and needed the credit.

But anyway. Only counting "major" coasters and not kiddy credits...

5. Stampedia at Portaventura. I don't remember if one was worse than the other, but they were both ****ing dreadful.
4. G-Force at Drayton Manor
3. Bandit at Movie world Germany
2. Velocity at Flamingoland
1. Jungle Coaster at Legoland Windsor

EDIT: Actually, the SLC at Movie World Germany was so bad that maybe it can take Stampedia's plce.

1. Invertigo - KI and CGA. Ugh, I hate Boomerang's and these were the worst. I actually puked after KI's and had a miserable time while on both of them.

2. T2 & Kong - SFKK and SFDK. T2 is worse than Kong but both are still bad. All you do is bang your head back and fourth for a couple minutes.

3. Firehawk - KI. I don't like flying coasters (not a fan of Tatsu, but it isn't in my worst 5 or anything) and Firehawk would get a similiar ranking if you didn't have to stare at the sun during the lift and while at the brake run. Plus the inline twists at the end are probably the worst elements on a coaster.

4. Tony Hawk's Big Spin - SFDK. It would be a fun ride if I didn't have motion sickness.

5. Sierra Sidewinder - KBF. Same as above.

Other coasters that should die:

- Pony Express - KBF
- Hurricane - Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
- Colossus - SFMM
- Racer - KI
- Rugrats Runaway Reptar - KI
- Bat - Lagoon
- Mean Streak - CP
- Screamin' Demon - Castle Park
- Scandia Screamer - Scandia
- Boomerang - KBF and SFDK
- Revolution - SFMM

1. The Villain at Geauga Lake.. you haven't experienced death until you rode that monster.. except its gone now.. lol
2. Son of Beast at Kings Island.. need I say more?
3. Mean Streak with trims at Cedar Point.. without trims.. holy hell I love it.. with trims? Brain.. ow.. pain..
4. Superman The Escape at Six Flags Magic Mountain... biggest 100mph (maybe) POS ever created.
5. Gwazi (both sides) at Busch Gardens Africa.. pain.. real pain.

And only idiots count kiddies.. come on now.

SnooSnoo & I didn't get a single head bang on T2, but we haven't ridden Kong yet. You need to get on Mind Eraser (SFNE or Darien Lake) to know the true meaning of head banging. Not even MP-Xpress (Movie Park), El Condor (Walibi World) or Cobra (Tivoli Friheden) can compare to those brutes.

Now on to my bottom feeders:
#5. Cyclone (SFNE)
#4. Predator (Darien Lake)
#3. Mind Eraser (SFNE or Darien Lake) - see above.
#2. Son of Beast - Nuff said.
#1. Viper - Pain, pure & simple. The only good thing about this coaster is that El Toro now stands where this POS once was.

Note - Both SFNE & Darien Lake have 2 coasters in my Bottom 5. If it weren't for Bizarro/RoS, neither park would be worth visiting.

No. Way. Darien Lake's is pretty bad, but, compared to Kong, El Condor or MP-Xpress, (or Flight Deck at CW or SFA's) they're fine!

Like I said - haven't ridden Kong. I've been on all the others though & I'll stick to what I said (even though Flight Deck is probably in my #6 spot).

Which SLC's are rough and which are smooth really is an opinion...I've heard people say the Mind Eraser's are smooth, that T2 is the worst SLC, that T2 is the best SLC, that Kong is the worst SLC, that El Condor is the absolute worst, that all of them are awesome...etc.

Maybe it depends on where you sit? I usually go for row 2 when riding an SLC.

I always sit in the front left seat to take a POV, because I only ride an SLC once.
