What is your favourite Xtended, 2000,2200,3000 Maurer Sohne Spinner. For me it has got to be the Winjas, just for the amazing location, atmosphere, uniqueness, layout and just for it being such a fun ride.

Whilst Winjas is interesting because it's so weird, the actually coaster itself is kind of slow and meandering. As a stand alone, not weirdness just kickass fun, Dragon's Fury wins by a million miles. But let's break it down.

Whirlwind - a really vile and nasty piece of work. Cranky and bitter old man swiping your legs with his walking stick kind of mean. It's a vicious little thing.

Sonic Spinball - fun, but really unimaginative. Seems like you could just pick it up and plonk it anywhere, so the lack of personality and individuality lets it down.

Cagliostro - Cred in a shed! Piece of ****, rubbish, boring, pretends to be good from the outside but when you ride it's REALLY dull. Seems like they didn't know how to end it so plonk a lift-hill there, wtf. So, so bad.

Crush's Coaster - Extra points for theming at the beginning, major let down points for turning into cred in a shed at the end. Such a let down considering how promising the first half is.

Salama - Haven't been on it, but the layout looks interesting, nice looking horseshoe.

Dizz - utter ****.

Tarantula - looks fun! Unique looking layout with some pretty cool theming, can't really go wrong.

of the ones I've been on I prefer spinball - must be one of the few who prefers it to fury.

whirlwind at camelot's awesome though! as is crush's coaster.

I quite liked tarantula too - but was a bit disappointed in winjas - love the lift and trick track, but the rides are a bit pants

BTW, there are two Whirlwinds; one at Camelot and one at Seabreeze.

The one at Camelot is pretty putrid, but the other is suprisingly OK. Same for the one at Waldameer (Steel Dragon).

I actually quite like Spinball and don't find it that much worse than Fury really. I do think Fury gets bummed a bit too much on here, probably some of the remnants of Chessington being a CF pet park. I mean, neither of them are amazing rides, they're both just good fun.

Tarantula and Salma I thought looked fab but were a bit of a let down.

Just looked up Cagliostro on RCDB and it looks pretty crap. I know since the photos it's been enclosed, but the layout just looks pathetic!

Didn't know Dizz existed. Looks alright I suppose.

Winjas looks fierce though <3.

I'm really not a MASSIVE fan of these creds... they're a bit of fun, but since the boom in 2004-2005 they seem to have gone a bit stagnant.

Give me a Golden Horse any day <3

I prefer these WAY more than the Reverchon pieces of ****.

Fury's good, but basically on a par with Spinball for me.

Winjas, as others have said, is good for the gimmick, but that's it.

Don't understand the hate for Whirlwind if I'm honest; I thought it was actually pretty decent.

Cagliostro is **** ing dire.

Jizz is even worse.

The one in Finland is ok. Barely remember it if I'm honest.

The ones that are the basis for the Golden Horse rip offs are pretty ****.

Tarantula is by far the best for me. Due to being built on a hill, it has something like four big 'first drop', it seems to go on forever too.

Sonic and Fury are good, but they're no Tarantula.

And I also love Crush <3 I can understand Jordan's point of 'cred in a shde' , but when all the effects are working, its pretty amazing!

^I forgot to mention Crush. I actually really liked it. I wouldn't queue longer than half an hour for it though, which means I'm unlikely to ever ride it again.

Add in the fact that it's in DLP Studios and the chances of me going anywhere near it again start to become even more remote.

Favourite is fury then Spinball.

Crush is ok but last time we never spun so it was really dull. Loved it the 1st time I ever went on it but the 2nd time was just a cred in a shed.

The worst one is the one at Raindow Magicland, it done nothing at all.

Hmmmm. Tough one for me.

I hate Whirlwind. I haven't ridden it in quite a few years but I distinctly remember it hurting and eing nastily rough. They could have improved it since then though.

I actually really like Sonic Spinball. It is a well paced and fun ride. I would say my best memory of it I wasn't even riding it though. Watching Marc and Furie go round getting an almighty spin which seemed to have taken them both aback was amusing.

I have always been really fond of Dragon's Fury. I just remember the first time and that first drop taking me by surprise. It was my first Maurer spinner so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect but I loved it. Coupled with the fact that I tend to always get a reasonable spin on it, it certainly sits highly.

The first time I rode Crush it span like a complete and utter biatch on heat. It was insane. That coupled with the particularly well done theming and it was easily my favourite spinner. However, we went back this year and didn't get a spin at all and the whole thing was rather dull. Thankfully, the theme helped elevate it a little even if it doesn't spin but it was still rather lacklustre.

Winjas is a dissapointing one for me. It looks gorgeous, intriquing and so on. The thing that lets it down, is that sure, on the first ride the novelty factor immense. All the little surprises make for a great ride that catches you off guard and you coming off thinking it was just brilliant. However, when I went back on it, even after a few years, I knew exactly what to expect and where all the little surprises were. Once you take the surprises out of the equation the ride was actually really poor. Was actually quite gutted about it tbh.

Tarantula is another one of the real hit and miss ones for me. The first time we rode it earlier in the day it was slow, boring, spinless and I didn't rate it. We re-rode it later that night and it was like a totally different ride. Fast paced and span like crazy. So overall I think it is a good solid ride, but inconsistent.

I think that is a major problem when trying to compare these coasters. Each one of us has had such varying degrees of enjoyment from all of them. Some people get really mental rides, others get tripe. It makes it very difficult to make any decent comparison because all of them are so inconsistent - at least I find them to be.

At a push my favourites would be Crush or Dragon's Fury. Dragons fury would probably edge it because it is possible to ride in the rain and when that happens... WOW!

Steel Dragon at Waldameer was... awkward. It could very well have been just this one coaster, but the transitions were a bit too quick for comfort. And the spinning didn't really add as much an edge as on other spinners.

I have been able to ride Mack, Reverchron, Gerstlauer, and Maurer spinning coasters. Of the four, I admittedly put Maurer at the bottom.

I love Fury. If you have a good spin to it, it doesn't stop, it's great. An equal balance, it's as dire as the rest can be. I think these ALL depend on the spin you get as opposed to actual layout.

Dragon's Fury is by far my fave.

Spinball is pretty good, probably tieing for second fave with Tarantula.

Tarantula is also pretty good, has some fun twisty drops on it.

Salama is OK, but nothing special.

Caligostro is ****. No other explanation needed.

It's criminal that I haven't done Winjas yet.

The XC models like Whirwind, Xtreme and Spider are very hit and miss. Spider and Whirlwind at Seabreeze are great because they haven't been used on the travelling coaster circuit, so they are very smooth. Whirlwind at Camelot is awful, and Xtreme was ball-breaking.

A lot of these rides often depend on the number and weight of the passengers. I've had amazing rides on all of them, and also some average rides where the spinning doesn't happen, especially when the ride is balanced out.

I have now ridden tarantula so i I'll give you my list:

1. Winjas: really good atmosphere and setting inside the building and some very unique sections.

2. Tarantula: Not the most spinny, but a really massive layout resulting in some unexpected big drops.

3. Dragon's Fury: Have not been on it for a few years but remember being long and very addictive

4. Sonic Spinball: The layout is quite short but the ride is very spinny and fun.

I am yet too ride a bad one of these and I find them really good fun rides.
