Best and Worst Ghost Train

First, as with all my topics, I must apologise if there is another topic like this.

Anyway, what's the best and worst ghost train you've been on?

The first of my two favourites is Terror Castle at Brean. That thing is an adults horror attraction. It doesn't really have much of theme, so you just go from a torture chamber, to a womans bathroom, then two a childs nursery. Heck, it makes grown men scream.
My second one is a travelling one that was by me. The actual ghost train was rubbish, just a few glow in the dark pictures. But the good bit was that there was a ride-op dressed in a rubbish shop bought skeleton costume who walked behind the car and wailed.

I haven't done that many Ghost Trains. I'd LOVE to do the one at Brean.

My favourites at the moment are probably Voodoo Mansion at Oakwood. Or this one...

As for worst. I'd probably say either the one at Folly Farm in Wales or this one...

The best...

Just... ever.

There is one that mixes both. Transdemonium at Parc Asterix. Some of it looks like they have stuck masks onto the wall, and some is actually pretty cool!

Best: Haunted house at alton towers (or when duel became duel live dirung scarefest)

worst: one of the traveling ones, or the one on blackpool's south pier!

Duel is not only my favourite ghost train, but it is also one of my top rides ever. I love how long it goes on for, something that is rare for a ride. Also, it has some pretty scary moments (Zombie hidden at spinning tunnel entrance)...

There arent many rides (in england at least) that I can get completely lost in and completely cut myself off from the real world.

Do you mean scary themed dark rides in general?

If so, then it'd have to be Disneyland's Haunted Mansion. Absolutely perfect in every way, a true pinnacle of theme park design and creativity. Also an honourable mention to Geisterschloss at Europa Park for being so dark and very inappropriate in places (dancing Klansmen, a woman hanging herself ect).

Worst major one would be Duel. For such a huge ride building it's a massive waste, basically being an expensive version of tacky ghost trains at fairs. Instead of nice sets and immersive storylines, things just pop up randomly to make you jump, without any logical follow-through. Also, the laser guns. A waste.

And you get cut off from the real world in Duel? Seriously, it's not that great. At least one day you'll be in awe when you ride something awesome.

Best gotta be Terror Castle, worst is the one at Brean. That is horrific.

.
Well...when I went to disneyland paris that one time it did blow my mind.

But I still love duel...its just one thing after another thing, after another thing...

I really like Duel. I've been on many dark rides and horror themed attractions but I still always ride Duel whenever I pass it. It just has a really good atmosphere, the ride is a decent length, it has awesome music and it's just good fun to go round. Yes some of the effects are a bit dated but it makes it more amazing and makes it even more like an old haunted house/ghost train ride. :)

The vast majority of Ghost Trains are tacky, ghetto, awful rides. This is why they're amazing.

The worse they are, the better. The ancient ones at travelling fairs are my personal favez <3.

I agree, they have to be dreadful; let's face it, they're never going to be realistically any good.

So it's kind of about how they've worked to try and make something scary and the ingenuity (or complete lack of it) makes for something either really intriguing, or fantastically amusing.

I guess it's why I like Brean's. It's still awful, but they've just gone "what are the most horrible models we can buy?" and then dumped them into it.

Botton's Ghost Train is fantastically awful, loved that one and it's well worth going on if you're there. West Midland's Safari Park is also utterly dire and again well worth it. I seem to remember Camelot's being utterly inexcusably bad too, which was brilliant. I think it was beaten in crapness only by the walthrough at Tusenfryd.

Oh, Gulliver's Warrington has a terrible walkthrough as well and who can forget the old Southport Haunted Cottage? I loved the use of garden implements to try and create a horrifying diorama. Rakes? They're terrifying!

Bollocks to Duel, it tries too hard and fails miserably. It's as disjointed and pap as the worst with pretensions of adequacy. It's not, it's just pants.

I remember the one at blackpool had three skeletons cycling in a circle.

Think about it

How could that possibly be even remotely scary?

Not a fan of ghost trains, but ill admit the older tackier ones look better, I don't know if you can call Duel a ghost train? Oh well its crap either way, Tomb Blaster is better.
