If you're on Twitter (and other "social networking sites"), you've probably seen those automatic status updates such as:

"I've uploaded ME DRUNK IN A PARK WEARING STOLEN 3D CINEMA GLASSES video to Youtube (insert link)"

or

"I gave MARY POPPINS - BLU RAY VERSION 4 out of 5 stars (via LOVEFiLM)"

or

"I've won another PS3 Trophy for having no life outside of my bedroom."

I'm guilty of using the Lovefilm ones when I rate a film but that's it. I find them a tad annoying. I'd much rather read what people are doing/have done all with that personal touch, otherwise it's too robotic and involves no effort.

I also ask as CF Twitter followers may have notcied the YT uploads appearing.

I'm interested to see what people think of these automatic updates/activity sharing status updates.

I have automated ones for Lovefilm (being sent a film) and on Facebook, PS3 Trophies.

The Lovefilm ones it's purely because Madame_Furie gets sent the email saying what has been sent out (and when).

She reads her email once a month, so I found that we'd be sitting waiting three weeks without a film come through the post and not know it had been sent and got stolen by the local postie... I mean "lost in the post".

So it helps me know stuff has been sent, it's also exciting to know something is on the way :)

The trophies one? I have a lot of friends with PS3s, and I do actually find it interesting to see what they're playing, and how well they're doing. I know that the Need For Speed:Shift trophies I have posted have started a mini competition between myself and a couple of friends who have the game. We all bought at different times and hadn't really thought about it. By posting the trophies, it started them playing the game more and we are competing to do better than each other.

It's also great to see what complete and utter tosh Ollie is currently playing ;)

I deliberately try to only update my trophies once a week at the most - I don't want to spam everyone :)

I like the updates, but they have to be interspersed with good stuff too. Though having said that, I'm not a great one for manually updating either. Meh!

No, they're annoying as hell. Everything that goes on my Facebook or Twitter is posted by yours truly.

I don't so much mind them on Twitter, but on Facebook, it is quite annoying.

I don't use any of them though as I'm not willing enough to let them post stuff like "Ciall Kennett rated a video 5 our of 5 on Redtube!"...

It's REALLY annoying - I don't ****ing CARE when you've been sent a film! (The rating ones are a tad more acceptable as discussion can stem from them).

CF posting almost non-stop (does Jerry have a life?) that they've uploaded a new video to youtube makes me want to have RAGE and shout at people in a threatening manner. I understand why this a good thing for people who follow the site to see the POVs etc and gain the site channel views, but it just pisses me off!)

Mafia Wars and FarmVille etc on FB was bloody annoying as well! Fortunately you can set your account up to stop these appearing - or just delete the burdens like I have in my 200+ person purge on there the other day

So in a few words... STOP ****ING DOING IT!!! *RAGES*

I don't get them... I think. Actually I don't have a clue. Twitter is useless and I forget about it as is Facebook.

In other news, mother dearest has become kind of addicted to farmville and wants to do everyone's farm. When doing that she got rid of my smiley face. >:C

You clearly didn't read the topic, the ones that appear on Twitter are automatic. So Jerry does have a life, seems to consist of going to theme parks...

You've clearly misread the point just to have an argument (no change there  ).

The updates to Twitter may themselves be automatic, but YouTube certainly doesn't just steal, edit and upload the videos from his camera do they? Get a grip Dave, I used to like you!

Aha! You're the bastard who de-friended me the other day!

In response to the poll, yeah they're a bit annoying but nowhere near as annoying as people who put song lyrics in their statuses and those who just put "FML". At least it's easy to hide them.

Or he's just committing all his spare time to trying to keep CoasterForce dynamic and active rather than languishing in a mire of "couldn't be arsed-ness"? ;)

Anyway, I shall now endeavour to get Lovefilm to send me MORE FILMS to ensure that maximum Neal-irritation is achieved. Obviously If I can up it to more than twice a week I'll be watching films in a manner even Ian would be jealous of

Bugger!

I noticed them the other day but tbh I tend to ignore them.

There are other sites that totally spam up my facebook and twitter to the point they are now blocked. I was getting them on facebook, twitter and email and it was driving me up the wall.

I get told via email that a new video has been uploaded to youtube so I do not really need to be told via twitter, I do not really check twitter everyday anyway.

But I can understand why it would be good, it will be good for people that are not on CF that only follow CF on twitter. So the CF part of me says yes it should be sent on twitter just not to much, if people do not want to view or read it they can skip past in less than a second :) I do that with a lot of tweats anyway as I do not need to know what time train people got.

I don't have any that automatically update on my own Facebook page. Come to think of it, I can't recall ever seeing one of these automatic updates.

Having said that, it would strike me as the sort of thing that would bug me slightly. I think it's a bit pointless.

I'll put "Skim read, but never follow the link". I do that on most of the stuff on the News Feed.

The only ones I have are for my PS3 trophies and everytime I upload a video to Youtube.
The one's that annoy me are all the Facebook game ones like " 'name' has lost a pink cow. Can you give it a good home?", or everytime someone levels up in a game.

Almost as annoying as your Facebook feed being full of people "liking" pointless crap.

I'm quite glad you deleted me from Facebook to be honest, that's one less person who "likes" everything appearing in my feed!

While your point was valid, stop being a tool.

Saying "I used to like you" like someone should be distraught that they don't meet with your approval just makes you sound like an idiot.

This is the Internet, your opinion doesn't matter.

People I've spoken to claim you're a nice guy in "real life" but an absolute dick on the forums, I certainly hope you're not like this in real life.

I see *raises eyebrow*...

I know for a fact I'm no different online than I am in real life - what you see is what you get

Jesus Christ, apparently you really can't have fun on here anymore :(

Having re-read this, so's pretending to know the context (and/or) trying to force a made up context onto someone's words.

What I said was purely based on how I was very fond of Dave until he changed as far as I was concerned - not because I feel that he should be distraught that this is the case.

Haven't got a clue what "tool" means, because I'm not exactly someone who knows internet lingo, nor do I care, as apparently it does not want my opinion. ;)

So I really disapprove of random and unexpected attempts to take the moral highground on a matter you clearly haven't a clue what you're going on about.

You can, as long as you're not a dick for the sake of being a dick.

Why would I post to that effect? It makes no sense!

I post what I feel, I speak my mind (well, type I suppose would be a more fitting word  ) - but you seem determined that I'm doing it out of some possessed ill-will towards all of mankind.

Perhaps you should re-evaluate?

Until I 'changed'? For the better me thinks!

For a person who won "Most Changed 2009" your certainly heading for "Most Obnoxious 2010"
