As the dust starts to settle on 2010, what news events have captured your imagine?

Ones I particularly enjoyed were the Raoul Moat stand-off, the Chilean miners and the removal of New Labour/Gordon Brown from office.

What's your favourite news stories of 2010?

Well, one that really caught my attention was the earthquake in Haiti, mainly because I was on the island when it happened and seeing it on T.V. while I was there, knowing all these people were dying just a few hours from where I was. Not that I particularly liked it, but it was quite a big story and had a big impact on the world.

The Chilean miners thing is pretty incredible too, but since I don't have a TV at school, I wasn't able to hear much about it.

The Radio 4 Today show presenter with tourettes. That was worth the licence fee in it's own right...

News events, it's hard to look past the coalition, for better or worse. For the first time in God knows how long, politics feels awkwardly different, which is no bad thing.

For one that got the interest of the entire world, the Chilean miners can't be beaten. Closely follwed by the Haiti earthquake and the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The other things have been the large number of bailouts for eurozone countries that have collapsed.

Some of the highlights;

- Chilean miners rescue
- Raoul Moat stand-off (then the news Gazza knew him was priceless!)
- The World Cup in South Africa
- The first election I could take part and vote in, the debates and the faff after
- The Icelandic volcano incident.
- The Large Hadron's Colliders findings recently
-

Oh yeah the volcano was quite entertaining. If only for the various news readers trying to pronounce it.

The miners was one of the most inspirational events this year, truly astounding.

I can't really think of anything else that stood out as much as that.

Something that wasn't even Raoulmoatly funny and having a picture of Haiti and pressing F11 and the lulz then ensued

The lady who put the cat (or was it a dog?) in a bin, all the Wayne Rooney mumbo jumbo and the election. Best quote of the year for me:

Interviewer: "Mr Cameron, what's your favourite joke?"
David Cameron: "Nick Clegg."

Rochester's MP being too pissed to partake in a vote... all made exponentially funnier by the fact that his name is Mr Reckless.

More recently:
New U.S. airport security measures - see-all xrays or feel-up pat downs.
FIFA snubs England & USA for next World Cups.
Obama tax-cut deal with Republicans.

-Michael Vick comeback and possible MVP (Go Pitbull!)
-LeBron being a complete tool and metaphorically flipping off the city of Cleveland
-Gov't Run Health Care passing despite huge public outcry
-Republicans retaking the house
-Chilean Miners
-America's one month obsession with soccer, and then it goes away for another for 4 more years
-Tiger Woods year of win
-Avenged Sevenfold kicking Eminem from #1 spot of top album, after losing their drummer
-Katy Perry being more of a slut than ever
-and finally Miley Cyrus taking hits from a bong of "salvia" and beginning to self destruct faster than Lindsey Lohan did!

I've just remembered the

"AHH HEET AYCE LAND"

incident too. Immense.

That was SO funny.

The news has been quite good this year hasn't it? Chilean Miners obviously, the volcano, the cat in the bin lady, errm...

See, this interests me, because there must be some more massive news stories that were really amazing, but I can't remember a single one. I like at this time of the year when people do review videos. They usually make me go 'oh yeaahhhh...' and remember.
