Does anyone want me to do a bracket for parks, and not coasters like Valleyfair!'s?

Vote Yes or No!

(NOTE: It will probably not be done this year because I am busy with homeschool but next summer for sure if the majority votes "Yes")

That is SUPER SPOOKY as i was just thinking about proposing this idea. Thanks for doing it for me :) . If executed well, I think it will be good.

It could be very interesting if you go through with this idea...but how would you select/seed the various parks?

Probably by coaster number or coaster rank.

But there's so much more to a theme park than just coasters. There's the overall atmosphere, and landscaping/themes. There's cleanliness and quality of service, food and shows. This is definitely a cool idea, but it's going to be difficult to seed the parks taking all this into account (or at least I think so).

Then how are the parks selected in the first place? It might be easy to think of some very high quality parks in North America and Europe, but what happens when you get to less well known places, like the parks in Asia? And where do you draw the line for "not the best but worth including" and "not worth including"?

I'm not trying to be pessimistic to your're idea, it sounds like it would be very interesting. I just want to know how it all is going to work.

Or we could just go the way of the deadbeat and list all of the parks in Europe and North America alphabetically.

I think that we have an initial topic where each member that would like to participate lists the parks that they've been to. A park must have five people each that have visited it to be included. The parks with the most votes get higher seeding, lower visitor numbers get lower seeding. We then divide them into quadrants or thirds or [insert fraction here] and randomize them by quadrant, then randomize the quadrants, thus resulting in a totally random seeding and thus, a more fair competition.

That would work I suppose. It would at least get thing started. Then, if this becomes an annual thing (like the coaster bracket), then the seedings could be based on the previous year's results...

Yeah...that could actually work :)

Really? Cool, I made that up as I went along.

And more nominations could be added every year, with a promotion and relegation system similar to The Football League.

I think that for the first year, you just do it randomly? Then th enext year you work out the seedings based on the results of the previous year.

I have to say, these require a lot of effort and a lot of dedication. Valleyfair! puts in a lot each year. If anybody is going to do this, then they need to do a huge amount of preparation work and be on CF to do the updates pretty much every day for three or weeks. It's not something you should even contemplate unless you're willing to put in the time and effort.

How's the origami world record attempt coming Jason? ;)

Please don't underestimate how difficult these are to run :)

Do the seeds based on location. Maybe 4 brackets? North America, Europe, Asia, Rest of the world (Africa, S America, Australia). Otherwise its just going to be an all North America/Europe voting blitz.

Any of the top three parks in each of the four "regions" that you described that have not had the necessary CF member turnout will be automatically included in the bracket.

Say there's Park X, Park Y, and Park Z in Asia.

Parks X, Y, and Z are the top three most-visited parks in Asia. Park Y is the only park to have received the necessary number of five votes, so Parks X and Z would automatically be included. All three of these parks would be included regardless. But let's say Park Q, which is fifth in continental attendance, doesn't get five votes. Park Q would, therefore, not be included in the bracket.
