Amusement Park Apps

There's probably a topic on this already, so merge away!

Everyone has smart phones nowadays and many amusement parks have developed apps that serve a wide range of purposes. What apps do you guys use when you travel to amusement parks? Which ones are good and which are bad?

I used Silver Dollar City's app today and it was pretty nice! I liked how they posted wait times for their major rides. Their park map was quite helpful and even placed a you are here pin, which was pretty accurate.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Cedar Point's app provides no more information than the main website. It's unfortunately wasted potential.

I have two for DLR and both rely on user submissions for wait time, it'd be better if the park updated it. I can see the move towards more interactive apps in the future, eventually all but replacing park maps .

I've think Efteling's app is the best that I've used. Portaventuras is ok for a map but I couldn't get it to work properly for anything else.

Not a park app but a ride app, Helix is worth a mention with its interactive queue line games to keep you occupied.

I've only really used Disney World's, but found it to be very good, especially as the park wifi works really well for the most part - as long as you're in/near a building or queue line. Waiting times are updated constantly and you can use it to book/change fastpasses, restaurants etc.

Universal Florida's was similar, but I just didn't use it anywhere near as much.

I've used WDW, Univsersal, Busch Gardens and Alton Towers.

My favourite is WDW because it has the best layout and in my opinion is the easiest to use. Although when I used it in the parks, it was very new and not the all of the current features were on it. Such as the ability to book fast passes through the app.

The others all do the job. They all show queue times and general park info.

Disney's was the only one I ever used, mostly just to check wait times around the entire resort and also to book our fastpass times. It was a lifesaver to be honest.

I haven't used any other ones besides that.

I was going to say, Helix app was SO entertaining while dealing with queue for the coaster. I think that more parks should implement this kind of apps as part of the waiting experience.

I dislike using park apps, mostly they are slow, buggy, battery draining, data guzzling pieces of ****. The only useful thing they can sometimes do is tell you queue times, but for that I just use the queue times website (well I would, as it is my site, shameless plug there). I really don't understand why no parks have managed to get it right yet.

There should be a law like : "If you offer a park app your park must have free WiFi!"

Next to that most apps I tried were slow and buggy - Disney honorably excluded.

Europa's is pretty good- has all the show times etc.. also gives you the ability to book restaurant tables in the various hotels which I thought to be fairly snazzy!!

Sadly the most useful feature, the wait times, doesn't work :( .

I can't say that I've used it for the queue times, I get a disability access pass due to a health condition so don't pay all that much attention to the queue times. Although they always seem to be pretty short in EP. I'm surprised though- you'd think Europa would have that down!!
