On June 15th, the America's highest rollercoaster, Cliffhanger, opened at Glenwood Caverns Amusement park in Colorado. Cliffhanger sits on the edge of Iron Mountain in Glenwood Springs, making it the America's most elevated operating coaster with it's base at 7,160ft.
Cliffhanger is the Thunderbolt coaster relocated from Celebration City, MO, USA. It cost just shy of $900k to dissemble, repair and relocate the ride. Two other rides, including a family coaster, are also new for the 2012 season.
This is not the first ride at the park to take advantage of the terrain, a giant swing-type ride hangs 1,300ft above the canyon!
As with all the thrill rides at this park, guests must sign a liability waiver before riding.
