Alton Towers, Price rises AGAIN!

Compare the theme park costs increase to the cost of inflation country wide. I can't speak for UK, but the Orlando parks have increased by about 10% in a year. Thats about 7% above in inflation, so we can be angry.

I crazy the way Merlin get away with this, Alton Towers really isn't 'that' good, they have 2 standout coasters and the theming is piss poor recently, the only good piece of theming the park has installed for a very long time is the marmaliser.

Take Blackpool tower for example. Before Merlin took over it was £14 for everything and you could stay in there the whole day, now it's about £40 to do everything and there is no way you can spend more than a few hours in their. I know Leisure parks were not looking after the place right. But Merlin just ask to much for their attractions, ESPECIALLY here in Blackpool were they are all minor attractions.

As for Alton, I just find it shocking how they have the cheek to charge that much money for people to get in, and then try and force you to spend more money throughout the day. I'm lucky being a pass holder, but if I wanted to go with some non enthusiast mates they would tell me to just **** off at nearly £50.

Business in trying to make money shocker.

£20 or £30 for a day out I don't mind spending, but not **** £50 it's pure robbery! You only need to visit 2 times and u might as well just buy a season pass

OUTRAGE at price increases when next to nobody, especially those on these forums, ever pays more than half price.

If I don't like the price of a non-essential item, guess what I do? I don't **** ing buy it.

****, you people bore me more and more every time this topic comes up.

^Chill out mate I'm just venting, everyone on here does it in one form or another. It is irrelevant for me anyway as I have a 12 month pass to any Merlin attraction. I just find it sicking with how much they get away with charging people

^ Massively missing the point. Nobody pays those prices. Anyone who rocks up on the day and pays full price is an idiot.

That goes for pretty much anything these days, not just Merlin attractions. Even without a 2-4-1, which are literally everywhere, you'd get it cheaper by buying online.

Anyone who doesn't at least check online prices, in 2013, and just shows up and pays full whack is a moron.

well I don't have daily access to the internet at home, nor do I own a TV. Imagine an older couple who don't even own a PC, they want to go walk around the gardens, see the towers ect... They get to the gate and it's nearly £50 to get in. I'm aware that us enthusiasts have first hand knowledge of the cheapest way to do things, but not everyone has that privilege. When I lost my job a couple of months ago I have had to cancel my internet, not everyone has access to online material.

^^Yes nobody pays the full price on here, but every time the price does go up and means the half price goes up, so people can still complain.

^ Good point actually. Those lines of pensioners I always see waiting to get in are going to be devastated.

The "lack of Internet" argument, these days, just isn't an argument at all.

The confusing thing is the at-the-gate price hasn't actually gone up to £45 it's gone up to £46.20, and it hasn't gone up today or in the past few days (as far as I'm aware it's been £46 all season, wtf is the 20p about rofl), you just wanted to make a topic to have a bit of a moan and are now whining when your opinion is being challenged.

When have you EVER seen pensioners walking around the gardens or towers? Especially the Alton Towers gardens which are a massive struggle and pain to get around for even semi-fit people like myself!

Even if you did see an old couple coming in, chances are highly likely they'll be with their grandchildren or something, in which case they'd likely get a family ticket which is cheaper than £50 each.

Pensioners on the day price is £23.10 anyway... £17.33 if they book a week in advance... Lucky bastards.

Also if you lost your job and had to cancel internet I'm sure a day out at alton towers wouldn't be top of the priority list.

If you wanna get all worked up about prices for things going up, you'd be far better directing your efforts to the ever increasing cost of a Freddo.

THATS criminal.

It's almost as boring as the fuss when BPB introduced the £5 fee to enter....
