So, I made my way to Alton Towers for a pleasant, Sunday out on the rides and in the glorious gardens.

Imagine my shock when I arrived and found that the park was full of people. A hot weekend day, in the summer! Why is the park so full? It's absolutely disgusting.

I then found out some noisy tart was planning on having a sing along later in the day! Apparently more than a couple of big footed lesbians and geeks who think P!nk is "rock" have turned up for it it... About 36,000 people

First things first though, time to complain to guest services about the queue for guest services!
IMG_6215.preview.JPG

Then off home to write a strong letter of complaint to Alton Towers for daring to have people in their park on a lovely sunny day, and for having the cheek to sell tickets to a rock concert on the day I was going!

This isn't going to be the last of this, I can tell you...

I'm rubbish at doing angry.

Okay, I'll do a serious trip report then for you :)

The day started late, at about 2:15. Queues were tiny, and only four other people were on the park.

No idea why they have this monorail thing, we walked very easily to the park.

The man at the gate was very happy to see customers. He took our money and gave us some tools to help us get through the day.

First up was Katanga Canyon. It's not quite as well themed as I remember, but it's certainly as hilly!

The Rapids themselves were surprisingly devoid of water though! Dry and dull!
IMG_6225.preview.JPG

I'm glad to see that they've finally done up X-Sector. The new green paint works well.
IMG_6228.preview.JPG

Off to Oblivion next, Maxi-Minor_Furie hasn't been on it before! Don't. Look. down!
IMG_6229.preview.JPG

Oblivion's hole looking good, but no mist... again!
IMG_6232.preview.JPG

Bit of a chill next at Old McDonald's Farm... And the evil chicken of doom!!!
IMG_6233.preview.JPG

Love the theming here. Pig in pen asleep.
IMG_6238.preview.JPG

Windmill and pig in the middle.
IMG_6236.preview.JPG

Scarecrow at the end :)
IMG_6239.preview.JPG

Rita next, and I'm looking at getting a bit of a battering from it as per!
IMG_6241.preview.JPG

It went pretty smoothly though, nice!

Now, I had heard that Ugland had been rethemed, but apparently not!
IMG_6244.preview.JPG

On to Duel next, which Maxi-Minor_Furie loves, we did it twice :)
IMG_6247.preview.JPG

I didn't score as much as Mushroom though ;)

On to Nemesis then, one of the best rides (ride and theme) in the country!
IMG_6252.preview.JPG

Evil Japs-Eye (am I allowed to say that?)
IMG_6253.preview.JPG

Ripsaw fountains not working... again! Not paid the water bills?
IMG_6258.preview.JPG

air... Dull as ever!
IMG_6260.preview.JPG

Everyone loves Squirrel Nutty! It's nuts!
IMG_6263.preview.JPG

The Flume! I'd tap it! :p
IMG_6267.preview.JPG

Time to slow it all down then with some kid's rides. Teacups.
IMG_6271.preview.JPG

And finally a last ride on the driving school! Beep Beep!
IMG_6273.preview.JPG

Finish time 2:45. Half an hour in the park and 18 rides done! I don't know why people complain about poor ride counts, or not getting anything done? We had to wait 2 minutes for the Flume, but other than that, it was walk on to every ride!

Okay, I think that the thrill factor has gone down considerably in recent years, but it was a pleasant, sunny afternoon getting in lots of riding! Who needs ERT? ;)

How comes you did not bother with Sonic Spinball or 13? have they been removed from the park now?

That was the whole park, no sign of anything else...

I haven't done something stupid and missed out on something have I?

Yes you must have, you went on Rita and missed 13. Thats a real shame but very understandable.

As for Sonic Spinball, well I do remember you are colour blind so that could explain you missing that.

How comes you missed Ghost of the Sea and the whole of Mutany Bay, I know I normally miss it but you have have walked past it to get to the rapids.

Has the Mine Train gone as well.

This park has really fallen apart in the past few months no wonder why you were angry.

Livid I was ;)

Okay, I suppose I should do a serious, serious trip report then... I'm sure everyone is really interested.

What to call it?

Family_Fuire Grand days out - Lezzer LoLs
That'll do! :)

So, we know the background. England managed to scrape through to the game on Sunday, and I thought "Woohoo! Alton will be empty. Time to hit the park and get in a good day's riding." Plus, Maxi-Minor_Furie has been loitering around the 1.2M mark for a month or two now, and he was desperate to get on Sonic Spinball.

I love it when a plan comes together (A-Team reference for Ian).

Sadly, P!nk is playing a sell out concert on the day. Too late as I've already told the family_furie what we're doing, and I can't take it back.

Time for plan b! This means family_furie will have to make an effort! They'll have to... Get up and out.

And they do! Armed with a large variety of foreign, breaded, breakfast bread products - family_furie are out of the house on time, and entering Alton Towers at 9:00 a.m. to rush in for some ERT.

Brilliant, so we get into the queue for Sonic Spinball (after a quick measure check). Less than ten minutes later, we have!

The ride ops didn't even check he was tall enough :)

The plan was to rush off next to Thi13teen before the 10:00 a.m. delude and then have a chilled day doing bugger all due to 36,000 large footed, short haired lesbians invading.

Things went slightly awry here - Maxi-Minor_furie wasn't too keen on Spinball  I've never heard him scream before, but he did off the main drop and into the immelman... Ooooops. He wasn't too upset, but it did shake him up so he wasn't up for Th13teen.
IMG_6195.preview.JPG

Sonic Spinball killed me :(

Not an issue, I was feeling a bit of pain from Sonic, so I took MMF off to his favourite, Duel.

First ride of the day! We're so special! :)
IMG_6196.preview.JPG

I'm going to beat Mushroom!!!

That went well, and MMF was up for some RMT action. I wasn't, but didn't have much choice. It killed me, so we limped off to the Sealife for some Hammerhead Shark action, and a bit of Ghost of the Sea!

The rest of the Family_Furie had been on Thi13teen and were in the queue for Rita front row. Our cable cars passed like camels in the night as we headed to Cloud Cuckoo Land, and they headed to Towers Street

Next 1.2M ride for MMF, Twirling Toadstools! Reverse condition here, I hate them, MMF loves them!
IMG_6201.preview.JPG

Awww, he looks so tiny!

We're still avoiding the "P!nk Fans" at the moment, but apparently Madame_furie keeps getting winked at

Meanwhile, things go a bit wobbly!
IMG_6205.preview.JPG

I know what you're thinking! "MMF is 1.2M so big enough for rides, but Big Wobble has a height limit of 1.2M max!".

That's right, but he's dead on the 1.2M mark with his shoes off! It's all win today! :)

We wander off to
IMG_6197.preview.JPG

Which has zero queue! Absolutely nobody queueing at all! All of the kid's stuff in fact is empty. Everywhere else, the queue lines are out of the entrances (even Nemesis and air), but if you're a child, this is a good day :)

Sadly, Charlie is still complete tripe!

So, we're doing well anyway and it's 12:00, so we meet up together for some lunch under a tree! Then we send off SSIL_Furie, Minor_Furie and friend-of-Minor_Furie to play on Nemesis and air while madame_furie and I let MMF play on the Mushroom thingy and Wobble World some more.

I formulate a plan to head to Extraordinary Golf with MMF while MF heads off to meet up with the others for some Sealife (and more lesbian winking). And the rest, as they say, is history! ;)

This butch lesbian is flaccid though!
IMG_6212.preview.JPG

(it's an inflatable female weight lifter).

So that was it. We had a round of golf and went home - in the back garden avoiding the football by 3:30 :0

The golf was good actually, really enjoyed it. It was "kids free before three" and £5.60 I think for 18 holes for the two of us with an annual pass discount. Glad I did all 18 now and got geeky shots for a Golf Guide page

Ride count for such a busy day was excellent. Getting in at 9:00 makes an enormous amount of difference. The park was basked in sunshine all day, and everyone seemed upbeat. Good atmosphere all round. No idea how bad it got later on though?

And there we go, that was pretty serious, but I do have to end on the word flaccid!

Flaccid!

They've upgraded that since I last played golf. The tap didn't suck people up when I was there. :p

IMG_6267.preview.JPG

Were there any fit lesbians like I've seen in certain films?

LOL! It also sucked my balls (it did!!!)

By fit, do you mean "after being locked alone in a room with a seven foot tall, 24 stone mutant called Brian for six months" fit? If so, then yes!

Erm, though most of them also fitted Brian's description...
