Mega Poster
Technically, this wasn't my first time at Magic Mountain. My family and I went last year around this time. Since this was our second time, we knew what was good and what wasn't, so this trip we skipped some of the rides that we rode last year and hated. However, I will still give you my thoughts on all of the coasters.
Like usual...no pictures. Sorry
(Well, we actually did get some shots but they were all of us next to Revolution, and that's not really worth posting anyways.)
The Park
Hilly. Kind of like Busch Gardens Europe, and trekking up the path to Ninja if you're tired can be quite exhausting. But there are lots of routes that will take you to the same destination, so don't worry. I liked that you could see some of the more popular rides as you approach the entrance to MM: X2 is clearly visible along with Viper's drop in the background, Goliath with Colossus in the foreground, and who can't see Superman: Escape from Krypton's ginormous 400-foot tower in the middle of the park?
The Rides
Alright, I'll do something new here. I'm going to write my thoughts on each coaster but list each coaster by its max speed. Hopefully I got everything right! (For those with the same speed, such as Colossus and Tatsu, it's in alphabetical order.)
Gold Rusher
This piece of :censored: kinda scared me. Not because it was fast or anything! The bar wasn't really flush against my stomach or my cousin's stomach, and I could pretty much dangle both of my feet off the train if I wanted to. If I wanted to jump off the train for some reason, I bet I could have. It's a good cool-down coaster...and that's about it.
Green Lantern: First Flight
Wow, this was a pretty good ride. I thought of it as a mini X2. Since it's relatively new the wait was 1.5 hours, but I think this is one of the rides that was actually worth it. Being flipped around was kind of disorienting, and I wish the ride could be longer, but it's still a great experience.
Apocalypse
Somewhat intense...it's more intense than Colossus in some aspects. The tunnels were nice and refreshing, but I didn't really appreciate the fire. It doesn't seem to add to the overall "story" of the coaster, and fire on a wooden ride?
Batman: The Ride
Short but intense. At least sitting in the back
If you've been on another model of this at another park then there's really nothing to see here that's new. I think they re-themed it a little from last year; I don't recall seeing the big Batman logo above the boarding platform last year...
Ninja
Meh. Good intensity for someone who isn't used to coasters. I would ride this also as a cool-down coaster, or if the line was short, a warm-up. The scenery is great, though, seeing the log flume and the trees everywhere. Did you get wet? One downside: I don't really like getting in/out of the trains...
Revolution
I think they're getting too overprotective. Why does it need a lap bar AND an OTSR? Either way, I've heard stories of people getting whiplash or having their head being banged around a lot, but thankfully that wasn't the case for me. We rode this as our warm-up this year, but I do have to say we were better off without riding it. It ate up 20 minutes of our time. But you can't forget the famous loop!
Colossus
Yuck. Nobody liked this ride. I haven't been on many woodies, but this one is the hands-down bumpiest coaster I've ever ridden. The same seems to be true with the rest of my family.
Tatsu
Well, there was a long line, as usual. Then, when we were about halfway up the stairs something happened to one of the cars and they evacuated everyone and tested the trains. This process took an extra 20-30 minutes and made us frustrated from the already long wait. however, it was justified since we got to sit in the front
The view is incredible! We were shouting all the coasters we could see, and the pretzel loop as awesome.
Scream!
Great ride! I was happy to see the zero-g roll right before the cobra roll; I didn't remember that when I rode it last year. Sitting in the back is so much better, though
Deja Vu
Being lifted up is kinda scary, but the rest is fine. Typical boomerang, but slightly different since it's bigger and it's floorless. The seating was neat (how they arranged the seats).
Riddler's Revenge
I've never liked stand-up coasters, and this one is no exception. It seemed rather rough and "choppy", I guess you could say. The inclined loop was very cool, though. And wrapping the vertical loop around the lift hill was another unique touch.
Viper
I was bracing myself for a headbanger but this one wasn't as bad as, say, Anaconda at King's Dominion. I loved this coaster, but sometimes I felt that they should have positioned the block brakes after the 3rd loop a little higher. MY feet flew up every time we approached the brakes! Despite that annoyance, it was my favorite coaster. The line was short too; that was icing on the cake!
X2
I don't see how people would wait 4 hours for this coaster. Yes, it's an extremely good coaster, even better at night (when we rode it
) and it was my 2nd favorite, but 4 hours? I wouldn't. This is probably the only coaster that I would have trouble explaining to my friends:
Goliath
I got the impression that Goliath's seats would be kind of rough. IDk why, but it wasn't. The first drop was a scary as hell but the rest was fine. Excellent ride! Colossus seems puny compared to Goliath though
Superman: Escape from Krypton
We were all forced onto this
Scariest 30 seconds of my life! But the launch wasn't terribly bad. Looking down from the top of the vertical spike of track was kind of dizzying but, I managed. My younger cousin actually cried when he got off...but at least he didn't puke.
So, that's my review. Unfortunately I probably won't be heading out to another theme park soon, but more will definitely come in the spring, and there will be at least one from me next year in the summer. I was kind of bummed we didn't get to visit Knott's Berry Farm, considering that we were literally 10 minutes away from it. But there's hope next year.
There's no doubt I'll be coming back here next year. I'd ride Tatsu, Viper, X2, Goliath, Scream, and Green Lantern again in a jiffy. Superman, Revolution, Ninja, Apocalypse, batman, Riddler's Revenge, and deja Vu maybe. Colossus and Gold Rusher never
Well, i hope you enjoyed this...even slightly

So, you make a small turn out of the station, and as you're going up the lift hill your seat starts rotating slightly. At the crest there's a small drop, and you're flipped so that you face the ground. There's a vertical drop but right when you get to the bottom and right when it seems like you're going to hit the ground at ~76 MPH you're flipped face up, kind of like the bottom of Tatsu's pretzel loop. After that IDK what happened.
Goliath
I got the impression that Goliath's seats would be kind of rough. IDk why, but it wasn't. The first drop was a scary as hell but the rest was fine. Excellent ride! Colossus seems puny compared to Goliath though
