A bit of Belgium, Holland and Germany

CookieCoasters

Giga Poster
On this trip me and my family visited the following parks for the first time:

Bobbejaanland
Dusseldorf Rheinkirmes
Movie Park Germany
Toverland
Walibi Belgium

This is my first trip report including photos, as i decided i am going to make an effort to actually take some pictures of the parks i go too on this holiday. As i would definitely not call myself an experienced photographer, i am sorry if some of the pics aren't very good, but i think most of them are alright.

First up

Bobbejaanland

bobbeentrance_zpsa2747b06.jpg

Bobbejaanland means Pleasant Land in English (for those of you who didn't know). The name couldn't have been more apt.

We arrived at the park just after opening and got into the park at about 10:20am and headed straight for

IMG_0128_zps43292eb4.jpg

Dizzzzzzzzzzz

IMG_0116_zpsdf2cefc0.jpg

It is a good fun ride. There is nothing mind blowing about it, but it is a smooth, mildly thrilling family coaster that suits bobbejaanland’s target market. The spinning can be a bit hit and miss, which meant the ride could be a little dull (sometimes not so dizzy). It is good, but I would say it is my least favourite Maurer spinner. 7/10

Deciding to hit another low capacity ride first, we ventured on to speedy bob, which turned out to be not so low capacity because the staff were working there socks off loading and unloading the ride to turn a queue that would take 30 mins at most parks into only about 10-15 minutes. Well done Bobbejaan!

IMG_0198_zpsf15edfda.jpg

One of the better wild mouse’s I have ridden, as there didn’t seem to be much braking and there was a bit of airtime, but all in all it’s still just a wild mouse with a common layout. As i said before the throughput was best I’d seen on a wild mouse though which was a plus. 6/10

As it was in the area me and my dad popped on El Rio, the parks rapids ride.

IMG_0193_zpsc4a885bf.jpg

Unfortunately there was little to no rapids on this rapids ride which in a way meant most of the ride, of which there was not very much, was basically a slow boat ride, however the whirlpool was good and is really the only bit where you get wet. The ride would be much better with the use of the SBNO drop. 5/10

Walking round the park now we just picked up rides as we came to them, so Dreamcatcher was next.

IMG_0202_zpsfb9a50d9.jpg

Like Vampire it has trains that I really detest because of the OTSR’s and rock-hard headrest. Thankfully though the ride never really picked up much speed, so there was little roughness or head banging, but I’d say Vampire is a bit more exciting. 5.5/10

I could not see how the next rides name 'Okidoki' had any connection with clowns (maybe it's a belgian thing), but i guess that is part of the parks quirky nature.

IMG_0203_zps2b3f2575.jpg

Quite big and fast for your normal family coaster with even a bit of intensity thrown in. It was also smoother and more interesting than your typical Vekoma Roller Skater which usually tend to be a bit crap. 6/10

Next up, was the totally awesome indoor log flume, Indiana River.

IMG_0149_zpsc7af02db.jpg

IMG_0172_zps32f9ad32.jpg

This is the rides station.

It is a great log flume! It is very unique in that it is all enclosed with some good theming and barely any pointless meandering between drops. Although the three drops were all quite small, it doesn’t stop them from getting you completely soaked. It definitely goes down as one of my favourite log rides. It is also probably the least jerky log ride I have been on. 9/10

After getting drenched on Indiana River, we stopped for some lunch, so we would have time to dry off a bit, at this fast foodie type place. I have to say the food at bobbejaanland was probably the park's biggest negative, but i can live with that.

After lunch it was time to ride bobbejaanland's signature coaster, that could make or break my day at the park

IMG_0215_zpsef19986a.jpg

Typhoon, the second euro fighter ever made, which didn't bode well as the bad experiences i have had on euro fighters were newer rides.

IMG_0217_zps28cdfdc8.jpg

It actually turned out to be the only Eurofighter that I found really enjoyable, as there is only a small amount of roughness at the surface of the loop, whereas Saw and Speed can be pretty vile rides. The barrel rolls were cool and provided some nice hangtime and the helix was pretty intense as well. I’d say it is the best coaster Bobbejaanland has to offer. 8/10

Now it was time to hit up the park's main flats, Sledgehammer and Fly Away

IMG_0184_zpsa35e277d.jpg

Sledgehammer was my first Huss Giant Frisbee. I was really looking forward to it and for the actual ride it was really good, but the ride cycle felt really short, which i suppose is quite common in a lot of theme parks, but I thought they would give us a bit longer considering there was barely any queue. 7/10

Didn't get a picture of Fly Away, but it is basically a flying enterprise like the one at Pleasure Island.

I enjoyed the ride when I was actually riding it as it was pretty thrilling, but the moment the restraints are pressed down on you, you’re like ‘uhhhh this is so tight’ and from the moment the restraints are released you’re like ‘ohhhh, my back hurts.’ Not as good as the one at Pleasure Island, I like the fact that that one goes backwards. 7/10

Took us a while to find it, but we eventually got to the the world record breaking (R)Evolution.

IMG_0190_zps49acb90a.jpg

I am sure most of you know, but for those who don't, (R)Evolution holds the record for the longest coaster train, or the coaster with the most cars in it's train (one or the other).

It is a very werid, wacky ride which I suppose is themed to Darwin’s theory of evolution a bit, but unless you knew that beforehand it is not obvious. I really liked the massive trains and the uniqueness of the ride made it more interesting, but really it has quite a mild coaster section, made better by the darkness and bit of theming. 7/10

Now i noticed the park was about 2h 30mins from closing and factoring in that i wanted to re-ride some of the rides, i thought i better pick up my last cred, Bob Express

IMG_0138_zps683ae045.jpg

A really good powered mine train coaster that I would say is even better than Alton’s. It feels faster than most, it has a little bit of intensity and even a spot of airtime near the end of the track. Like Plopsaland’s it is placed over the water and log flume which I think visually, always looks good. 6.5/10

The last ride i had to ride was the park's outdoor log flume, Wildwaterbaan.

IMG_0132_zpsf01d7b67.jpg

A decent log flume ride with two medium sized drops which looked pretty much the same height, a bit like the log flume at Parque de Atracciones. Not as wet as Indiana River, but you still get a good spray. Again no jerking, what does Bobbejaanland do to their log flumes that makes them run so smoothly? 6.5/10

Now i had done all the rides i had set out to do it was time for re-rides (I had already ridden Typhoon twice, so i didn't bother going back there). I went straight back on Indiana River with the intention of returning for a third go if there was time later on. I then got on Dizz, followed by (R)Evolution. After that, i looked at the time and it was about 5 minutes until Indiana River closed, so me and my family rushed over to have a final ride just a minute or so before it closed. What a great ending to the day.

I had a great time at Bobbejaanland. I felt the park was had a good feel and atmosphere too it and even though none of the coasters are top 10 material, they have a really good variety of rides that can easily make Bobbejaanland into a full day park. Even though all but three rides are targeted at families, there are definitely a few unexpected thrills and unique gems to be found in the park. Queues were consistent all day ranging from about 15-30 mins and the occasional walk-on which i did not have a problem with.

I hope you enjoyed reading my Bobbejaanland report. A report on the Dusseldorf Rheinkirmes will be coming soon.

Nice report. It's always good to see more people putting in the effort with these.

There was quite a large group of us that went to the park a couple of years ago and I have to say, our opinions really differ from yours lol. We can definitely agree with the indoor log flume though, that thing got us pretty wet. Actually, I managed to get quite the drenching on the rapids too. Glad to hear someone managed to have a good time at that park though ;)

Look forward to reading more.

I think it was mainly because there weren't many good rides (I think the two water rides were the best things the park had to offer). The park was also dead when we went and it all just felt a bit soulless and bland.

Dusseldorf Rheinkirmes Part 1

After arriving at Dusseldorf me and my family checked into our hotel and after a little while we eventually made our way over to the kirmes. From the first glance it looked incredible and i felt myself getting really excited and eager to get there and ride the rides.

IMG_0306_zpsae5fa706.jpg

The kirmes from across the river

After walking along the very long bridge we finally arrived, and we decided to just go on rides as we saw them. So first up was the magnificent looking log flume, Wildwater 3.

IMG_0233_zps7a400ee0.jpg

Wow!!! I would have been very impressed with this log flume in a major theme park, let alone a fair, and the fact that it travels is incredible. It has three good drops of which the first smallish one is backwards and the final two are a decent size and come quickly one after the other. Not too wet, but wet enough to make me not go on a rant about how water rides that barely get you wet are extremely annoying. 8/10

Right accross from the log flume was skater the top scan, so that's where i headed next.

IMG_0240_zps16f73860.jpg

I love these top scan’s even on the shortish cycles of samurai (bit of a tongue twister :) ), but this one was really long and fast, as well as being completely insane. The only negative I found with the ride was that because it is so intense, it gives your legs that painful feeling that some ones trying to pull them off, but only a few short times during the ride. 8.5/10

As i said before, i was planning to just ride rides as i came to them, but when i could see Alpina Bahn and Olympia Looping in the distnace, i could not wait any longer.

IMG_0250_zps5199a1d2.jpg

So first up Alpina Bahn

IMG_0245_zpscca89816.jpg

I was just a tad disappointed with this ride, because I felt some of the ride (most notably the bottom of the first drop) just chucked me around a bit too much for my liking. This was a shame because the good parts of the ride were really good, like the airtime hill and the smoother intense curves, but the roughness just lost it a bit of the fun factor that Jetline at Grona Lund had. Still very impressive for a travelling coaster. 7/10

Now Olympia Looping

IMG_0253_zps81ea0958.jpg

Is this the best travelling coaster in the world? Most people say it is, and so far, I think it definitely is and the only one that might beat it for me would be hollenblitz, but it wouldn’t be easy. This coaster was great! It was intense, it was long and pretty smooth everywhere apart from the bottom loops, but that didn’t spoil the ride. I would recommend to you to really sit up extra straight, pushing your shoulders into the OTSR otherwise you may find it press down on quite tightly, which was a little uncomfortable. 8.5/10

Now i had done the two main coasters, i went back to riding rides as i came across them and i spotted the what was going to be the never-ending breakdance.

IMG_0256_zps7f13a4be.jpg

It was one of the flats I was most looking forward because of the faster an longer ride they seem to provide at fairs, though it was longer and faster than I could have imagined. It seemed to last like 15 minutes, which is a super long cycle and great value for money (only cost €3). It was an amazing experience, but the ride did leave me feeling quite queasy for about half an hour afterwards. 8.5/10

Because i was feeling queasy after the ride we stopped for a drink for little while directly accross from Konga, which would be my next ride.

IMG_0264_zpsa845c71a.jpg

This is a KMG Freak-out XXL and was my favourite ride at the fair. It had everything a great flat ride should have, a good long cycle, intense spinning, lots of airtime and its height for this type of ride added an extra element of a little bit of fear, but mostly a bundle of fun. It is probably my favourite non-drop tower flat along with Air (Zierer Star Shape). 9/10

Finally we had managed to reach the opposite end of the fair where the wild maus was, which was a relief, because i hadn't seen it yet.

IMG_0268_zpsb9e20f9d.jpg

I think this was a Maurer Wild Mouse, but I could not be sure as the layouts are the same as the Mack ones. Like the one at Bobbejaanland it was decent, but it’s just a wild Mouse. 6/10

We now headed down the other pathway back towards the main entrance where i picked up my last cred, Spinnng Racer

IMG_0316_zps9c6a7398.jpg

I thought this Maurer spinner was definitely better than Dizz, because it span a lot more and was more consistent with its spinning as well as having a more exciting fast paced layout. It wasn’t quite as smooth, but there was only a little bit of roughness that you get on most of them predominantly when you are travelling backwards. 8/10

Next up was a ride that was new to the rheinkirmes this year, and i'll admit i was a little apprehensive before riding it, Flasher.

IMG_0278_zps484ddc1c.jpg

This ride claimed to be the world’s largest portable ride of its type at a whopping 70 metres and it is basically a massive booster ride from Mondial. It wasn’t quite as intense as some of the smaller ones, but it was exhilarating and still pretty fast. It was quite a daunting ride at first, but once you were up at the highest point, it didn’t feel scary and was just really fun. 9/10

Next it was time to ride Power Tower which was the only ride here i had ridden before.

IMG_0283_zpsb6c4c59d.jpg

I rode this is at Winter Wonderland, but it was better here because it had a longer cycle. The main thing that sets this apart from other drop towers, is the length of them is great and even though the ride provides some nice floater airtime, it isn't as exciting or thrilling as, say you’re typical intamin drop tower. 7.5/10

After this, i went over to shake n roll, which was a stressful ride to actually get on, as you had to literally fight to get a car, because there was more people hanging round the outside, than there spaces for on the ride. You couldn't afford to wait till the ride had stopped, you had to jump on rotating platform as soon as the ride had slowed down and rush to car quickly otherwise you could find yourself waiting a long time for a ride. I missed the first cycle, but luckily i managed to snag a car the next time around.

IMG_0279_zpsd2a838d4.jpg

OMG! Words cannot describe how completely insane this ride is. It is by far the most disorientating, tiring and probably violent flat I have ever ridden. You get chucked around, and upside so much that the ride becomes a challenge to take. I did really like it, but it is pretty violent and bruising. 8/10

Now we were quite near to where we started, so it was time to do the rides i missed earlier because i was rushing to the coasters. First up was Circus Circus.

IMG_0289_zps928bb50b.jpg

I’d always wanted to ride one of these Huss Magic’s on a good cycle, because the ones in theme parks I have found to be pretty boring. It is basically an inverted break dance, although not quite as good, it still had some intense moments and was good fun. 7.5/10

Finally i went on a ride that had a weird name 'sudseewellen' can anybody translate for me?

IMG_0293_zps63aebbe0.jpg

This was a Matterhorn ride which I always enjoy. They are certainly not the best rides at fairs, but they are classics that can feel a little bit dangerous which often adds to the excitement. 7/10

After that we decided to head back to our hotel with the intention of coming back the next day for a few hours to ride some more new rides and re-ride the best rides. I had a great evening and could not wait to return the next day.

I hope you enjoyed reading the first part of my Dusseldorf Rheinkimres report. Part 2 will be coming soon.

Südseewellen would be translated in English as South lake waves or Waves of the South(ern) lake.

Great trip report so far, I'm looking forward to some more parks :)

And Olympia Looping looks so fab.

^ I really enjoying reading reports in Europe. Such different theme parks in Europe compared to Six Flags, etc. in America.

Rhienkirmes Dusseldorf Part 2

This second day was just to ride a few of the rides i had already ridden and a few new ones.

My first ride was a re-ride on Flasher which again was amazing

IMG_0249_zps8a1ee4d6.jpg

First new ride of the day was Rio Rapidos.

IMG_0325_zps4dc09e60.jpg

An interesting rapids, even if it is portable. I remember thinking the one at Lightwater valley was crap, and whereas this wasn’t very good either, I actually got wet and there was an extra drop. You can’t really expect more from a portable rapids. 5/10

After the rapids i re-rode a few other rides as i came to them.

IMG_0315_zps6be3c341.jpg

Spinning Racer which was just as good as yesterday.

IMG_0263_zps401c8eff.jpg

and Konga, just so awesome!!!

Next i went round to another new and quite weird ride, Voodoo Jumper

Unfortunetly, i forgot to take any of my own pictures of the ride, but this is what it looks like.

VJS2.jpg

http://freundeskreis-puetzchensmarkt.de ... php?id=349

Probably the strangest ride at the fair. It is a bit like the frog rides you get at a lot of Uk fairs, as they both jump up and down in quick succession at parts of the rides, except this one is inverted and spins. I liked the ride for its uniqueness and long cycle, but I did bash me ear a few times on the OTSR’s which was a bit annoying. 7/10

After this, i got another ride on Olympia Looping, which was a bit better this time as the restraints did not tighten as much.

IMG_0257_zps1ee61812.jpg

I also re-rode Alpina Bahn, Shake n Roll, Wildwater 3 and Skater which all rode pretty much as well as the day before.

Next, it was time for my final ride, which was the second breakdance at the fair. Only lasted about half the time the one I rode the previous day did, and I couldn’t decide whether that was good or bad really. Anyway still a very good ride. 8/10

Now for a few pics of rides i didn't go on, but others may decide to when visiting the fair.

IMG_0269_zps3298b34a.jpg

IMG_0270_zps447ed273.jpg

IMG_0309_zps1249ed97.jpg

I kind of regret not riding this.

IMG_0341_zpsff41c3d8.jpg

I think this was the main ghost train and it looked quite good, but i wouldn't know as i don't ride these rides.

This is was my first German fair and from hearing about them and this one particularly, I had quite high expectations and I definitely was not disappointed. The place has a great choice of food, drink and game stalls as well as an excellent variation of travelling rides where some made me think, I can’t believe these are really transportable (the log flume in particular). The rides were decent prices, unlike the incredibly expensive Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, which was good, but I would say that the Rheinkirmes is better. The fair did get quite crowded along the walk ways, but the rides were never too busy which was good. Overall, I would say that the Rheinkirmes made a very good impression to me as my first German fair and I look forward to visiting more in the future.

Thank you for reading the second part of my Dusseldorf Rheinkirmes report. Movie Park will be coming soon.

Movie Park Germany

IMG_0424_zpsc6d3b24f.jpg

When we arrived at Movie Park we realized it was massively busy, and it didn't take us long to figure out why. There were a loads of fire trucks, police cars and ambulances in the car park, so it must have been some kind off special Rescue/Crime fighter day.

Once we had got into the park we went to purchase speedy passes for me and my dad as my mum was not likely to ride today. We then headed straight for Van Helsings Factory.

IMG_0350_zps24c00647.jpg

This is an indoor Gerstlauer bobsled that pays no comparison, to ones I have previously ridden because of the unique layout and theming. The ride is kind of Mummy-esque, though much better IMO. The theming was good, the coaster parts, although not fast were very exciting and there are some wicked laterals. Overall it was just a really fun ride, which was a great and much needed edition to Movie Park. 8.5/10

After a ride on that we headed over to Santa Monica Pier, which was definitely the least impressive of all the park areas.

IMG_0355_zps7ab14c09.jpg

First, we went over to ride MP Express.

IMG_0359_zps64023ea6.jpg

It was a pretty rough SLC. For the first 10 seconds or so I thought it wasn’t too bad, but after that it got considerably rougher especially on the exit of the sidewinder. There are worse SLC’s out there (Limit, El Condor), but I wasn’t enjoyable and isn’t something I would want to re-ride. 4.5/10

IMG_0360_zpsf1a03277.jpg

Bandit was closed, obviously because of its big refurb, which in a way i was kind of happy about, even though i missed out on a cred.

One the way too High Fall, i took a quick spin on Sidekick

IMG_0366_zpsaa5a05b8.jpg

One of the normal Huss firsbee’s that did feel a bit tame after some of the Rheinkirmes flat rides, but it was alright. 6/10

Now for High Fall

IMG_0375_zpsba316514.jpg

This was a strange drop tower as it was a standing, tilting, gyro drop tower and I have been on standing and tilting ones before, but because this one was a gyro, it just felt weird as you were further away from the tower. It was a good drop, but the landing was abrupt causing a bit of discomfort. 8/10

Next i wanted to ride Alien Encounter, which took a while to find as you see it from a lot of places in the park, but you could not access it from them. We eventually found the entrance right next to the park entrance which we must have just walked past and not noticed.

IMG_0420_zpse8bbf9ab.jpg

I wasn’t too sure what this ride was going to entail before riding as I originally thought it only had the one drop you could see, but it turns out that there was hidden drop after the first lift which made the ride more interesting. The theming was pretty good and the bit at the top of the second lift where you are engulfed with hot smoke was an interesting features. Probably my favourite splash boat ride, that gets quite wet, but not as wet as others. 8.5/10

After exiting the Alien Encounter area, which is in an area all on its own, we ventured over to Nickelodeon Land which was probably the biggest themed area in the park. First we went to Ghost Chasers.

IMG_0403_zpsbdd2a916.jpg

Another wild mouse! And now I am really starting to get sick of them. This one was trimmed more so wasn’t as good as the previous two this trip. 5/10

Next up was the magnificent Mission To Mars

IMG_0400_zps5eb64ddb.jpg

A small Vekoma Roller Skater with a bit of roughness and one bit that gave me a nasty bruise. 2/10

Next, it was onto Dora's Big River Adventure of which took just up a bit more space than those pier designed log flumes do which is good for the park.

IMG_0389_zpsdfb56952.jpg

In terms of the ride, it had two decent drops that got you nice and wet, very wet If you sit towards the back. It had theming, but for whatever reason I just didn’t like as I thought visually, it looked a bit naff, and going round it didn’t give me the nice feeling that well themed flumes or traditional flumes give me. 6.5/10

After drying off a bit, it was time to grab my last cred, The Jimmy Neutron SFC

IMG_0381_zps4acf1290.jpg

It was okay, it rides better than you would expect it too, but is short and quite dull. Just a little worse than Kvasten. However, it was better than the SLC. 5/10

After a bit of lunch, we made our way back over to the Nick area to ride Mystery River, which non of the ride could be seen from the public offride, probably they don't want to show people how lame the rapids is.

IMG_0412_zps7792f85b.jpg

This ride really annoyed me. The theming was excellent consistently throughout the ride, but the actual ride was crap! There were a few gentle waves, but nothing you could actually get you wet and there were no water falls and showers. So basically it’s a themed boat ride. In rapids terms it was the worst I have ridden. 4.5/10

Now i had ridden all the rides, i went back to ride Van Helsings twice more and it was just so good and so unexpected. I also had another ride on High Fall and finally finishing off with a ride on Alien Encounter before we left.

Out of all the parks I was going to on this trip, this was the one that I was least looking forward too as I thought that there wouldn’t really be many good rides. As it turned out Van Helsings Factory, Alien Encounter and High Fall were all really good rides and the Dora log flume was also decent. The other coasters were pretty meh, but that was expected. The theming is very good towards the front, but is inconsistent in that some of the rides have little theming, but some have excellent theming. Food and drink options were average, as were the operation, but the speedy pass worked very well.

Thank you for reading my Movie Park report. My Toverland report will be coming soon.

Just a quick question. You have spent 111€ in a fairground? Not that I'm judging you or anything, but I think that is a *bit* too much :/

Well we did go in two days and at some parks It could cost about €180 for two days, so not too bad really. Granted a lot of theme parks offer money off on a second day, but it would still be more than €111 probably.

Ha, that is a lot of money to spend in a funfair but I suppose if you had a good time that's the main thing. I still really want to do Olympia Looping, I've ridden Hollenblitz and was blown away by what can be achieved on a travelling attraction.

Sounds like you've had fun. I still need to get to Movie Park, the Van Helsing cred looks really good so I look forward to that and glad to hear you liked it.

Curious about how you found Toverland which I find is much better when in a large group of friends so will be interesting to hear how you found it on a family trip.

Toverland

We arrived at Toverland, just before opening to find a relatively empty car park which was a good sign. When i saw Troy standing tall-ish in the field, i felt myself getting very excited.

So there was no debate once we entered the park about what we were going to first, it was obviously going to be Troy.

IMG_0529_zpse8f05aba.jpg

Wow!!!!!!!!!! I cannot put into words how absolutely fast paced, relentless and completely awesome this ride is. It starts off with a really good twisty drop which gives great airtime and from there on it is non-stop action, with laterals, airtime, twistiness and intensity, almost everything you could want in a coaster. It was so long and insane, that it actually tires you out by the end of the ride. Just a nice bit of shakiness that really makes it feel like a woody and provides absolutely no pain or discomfort. Troy zooms straight into my top 10 and is now my second favourite woody behind Balder. 10/10

After two rides on Troy, i decided to move on, because i thought it would be even better after it had warmed up

So we headed over to Booster Bike.

IMG_0527_zpsdb179d51.jpg

Wasn’t really looking forward to this as I found Velocity at Flamingo Land a bit uncomfortable. However, because this one is slower, it is not as uncomfortable and I actually found the ride relatively enjoyable, but the restraints still leave a lot to be desired. 6.5/10

Next we ventured into the new Magic Valley to ride Toverland's newest coaster D'Wervelwind a Mack spinning coaster.

IMG_0494_zps54eeeece.jpg

It is a good fun ride. I love the trains, and the station and the ride itself is smooth, thoroughly enjoyable, quite spinney and intense at some points. The only criticism of the ride is its length, but at least it’s longer than Sierra Sidewinder. I also really the liked the rides on-board audio. 7.5/10

After that we went to find my mum, who was still sitting over by Troy, we all went into second indoor section which houses part of the flume, lots of jungle-jim type things and the woudracer station.

IMG_0451_zps5c2a31fb.jpg

Sorry for the slightly blurry photo.

When we got inside we decided to ride the log flume, Backstroke.

It was a nice flume ride that starts off indoors, which I thought was quite cool. I did not understand the significance of the monster, but I thought it was good theming. The ride had a medium sized backwards drop in the indoor section followed by a unique turntable part way up the belt lift and the ride ends with a pretty big final drop in the outdoors. 7.5/10

The outdoor drop

Next, we decided to do the park's other water ride back in the Magic Valley, which was the newest major ride and one of the newest rapids rides on earth, Djengu River

IMG_0474_zps1f103f98.jpg

Sorry for the finger, i was definitely not on my best photo form this day.

Anyway the ride. Finally, a rapids ride with actual rapids of this trip. It was actually better than your average rapids, because it didn’t really have any dead sections and it had lots of rapids, waterfalls and little showers which meant plenty of opportunities to get wet. The theming in the queue line is very good, and the ride theming is decent, but will be better with some greenery. 8/10

After that, we went back for a couple of rides on Troy. It was even better than before.

Next we went to ride Woudracer, which is one of those bobsled, but non-cred type rides.

IMG_0501_zps1769e662.jpg

I tend to avoid these types of rides, because of the fact I am not confident in my own ability to control them, but as this one was automatically powered and you only had to control the speed a bit, I decided to ride it. It was fun because it isn’t something I would normally ride, but wasn’t great. 6/10

We then made our way over to the first indoor section by the entrance for my final cred was.

IMG_0462_zps797f88c7.jpg

Quite a good sized family coaster like the one at Bobbejaan, but unfortunately this one was a bit rough in parts, mainly at the beginning. 4/10

While i was there i popped Aquasnake, as it wasn't just the typical three dip dingy slide.

IMG_0466_zps7bcbf84e.jpg

An enclosed dingy slide with some colourful lights inside and a little bit wet. It was alright, but I have ridden better dingy slides. 5.5/10

Now we had ridden all the rides we wanted too, we took a last ride on the flume, another two rides on D'Wervelwind and then the rapids which had actually worked up a bit of a queue which is understandable as it was the new ride.

Finally we went back to Troy for a final two rides and the ride is just so incredible and rapid. It is a must ride for any enthusiast, just as Toverland is a must park for every enthusiast.

Most parks I go to, I think to myself ‘oh, this reminds me of so and so’, but there is no park that I have been that’s really anything like Toverland which meant it had a lot of charm and uniqueness to it as a park. The indoor part was great and really nice for families with young children, which there was a lot of. I don’t think I have ever seen so many little kids at a theme park. Toverland is a prime example of a really good family park that has some really good rides, but still manages to cater excellently to their target audience. The outdoor section of the park was really nice to walk around and very relaxing. I really liked the new magic valley area, the theming was good as was the landscaping. I just loved Toverland, and not just because it has a world class GCI.

Once again i apologise for some of the not so great pictures, but despite that i hope you enjoyed reading my toverland report. Walibi Belgium (including Psyke Underground) with be coming soon.

Sorry i've been a bit late with my final park report of the trip, but i have been busy riding danish coasters :) which you will get reports on soon-ish after this one. Anyway, onto...

Walibi Belgium

IMG_0545_zps0fe43acd.jpg

I had heard reports that this park gets really busy, but luckily it was relatively quiet with the longest queue only being about 30 mins.

With Psyke Underground opening just a few days before our visit, i had no hesitation about where to go first, so after walking the long way round (using my not so good map skills) we eventually got to the ride. I was happily surprised to see the ride was pretty much walk-on.

IMG_0538_zps27a65bbc.jpg

The only other shuttle ride like this I have ridden was Montezuma’s revenge at Knott’s which was okay, but this one was considerably better. The station was well themed, the trains looked nice and the ride itself was very smooth. The launch was good, but the loop was the best part of the ride. I thought they’re could have been more theming on the actual ride, but that was my only real negative. Having not ridden the original i cannot make any comparisons, but it is a really fun and re-rideable coaster. 7.5/10

As the queue was so short i decided it would be stupid not to get a second go. We then moved on to the neighboring log flume, Flashback.

IMG_0543_zps0c7efb87.jpg

A good, long flume with three drops of which the first was backwards and the last was a double drop. I liked the colourful theming around the ride and I got quite wet, so all in all I was happy and really enjoyed the ride. 8/10

After we went on the flume a second time, we ventured into the nicely themed wild west area, where a great intamin drop tower awaited us, Dalton Terror.

Your typical intamin drop tower, which is never bad thing as they never fail to disappoint because they are intense and give really nice floater airtime. 8/10

Right next door was Calamity Mine, the first of the parks FOUR vekoma's.

IMG_0558_zps9045b328.jpg

It had some very nice theming, but the ride was pretty much your average Vekoma mine train with some roughness and a pretty dull layout. I’m starting to find, that I don’t really like these mine trains with the exception of Colorado which is exceptional. 5/10

I was anxious to ride Loup Garou, so we headed for that and we found the first decent sized queue of the day. It only took about half an hour, but unfortunetly we were placed in the middle of the train which was a shame.

IMG_0574_zpsefec1996.jpg

I was looking forward to this, as much as Psyke Underground, but unfortunately it was probably one of the few rides that disappointed me on this trip. To be fair, it wasn't bad at all but , it just lacked a bit of airtime and overall wasn't that exciting, which reminded me of Robin Hood. 6.5/10

Next it was time to brave the SLC, Vampire.

I was curious to see if this was more enjoyable then the one at Movie Park I rode a few days prior and luckily it was. There was only a bit of roughness, and overall I enjoyed it, but it seemed to run quite slow which meant it was a bit tame. 6.5/10

After that, we got some food near the entrance which was basically all typical fast foody type options, a bit like bobbejaanland, but it wasn't too bad.

Now it was time for the final vekoma and my least favourite out of the lot, the menacing Cobra, which surprised me as i was under the delusion that it was called boomerang, before i saw the sign.

IMG_0588_zps901bf4f3.jpg

Just another boomerang and this one was one of rougher ones I have been on so I did not enjoy it. 4.5/10

I could feel it getting hotter, so it was definitely time for a ride on the parks wild rapids, Radja River.

IMG_0590_zps0256fc2d.jpg

I think this is the only 12 seater rapids in Europe which made me hopeful that this wasn't going to be a pointless waste of time type rapids. The actual rapids wasn't great, but it was better than most and you get pretty wet at the end of the ride when loads of water is sprayed above you. 7.5/10

Finally, we went round the park and i took some photos and grabbed a second ride on Dalton Terror and Radja River. We then it we decided to leave, to catch our tunnel crossing back over to England.

I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect from this park as I had read some pretty negative reviews, but other quite positive reviews. For me I would say it was neither bad nor great. It wasn’t grubby and smelly, like some people said, so I guess that they were old reviews and the park has made improvements since then. The park has made a decent effort with the theming of some rides (Calamity mine, flashback and Psyke Underground), and it has a nicely done wild west area, but there was just something missing from the actual park itself that made walking round it, a bit meh. This is also something I noticed at Walibi Holland last year, but i felt it more here. The coaster selection isn’t great, but the two water rides are good. All in all, it is an okay park, but nothing special.

Thank you for reading my Walibi Belgium report.

From videos, I don't see what is good about Loup-Garou. I have also heard almost all bad reviews on the site.

Good Report though.
