Definitely agree with all of this. While Merlin can do really high quality stuff, a lot of cases in their rides, they have highs and lows in them and its VERY noticeable, while Paultons seems to focus more on consistency, which I think is more beneficial in the long term. I'd rather pick a park...
Did it quite a few times yesterday. Was walk on the entire day. Still not a huge fan of it, but some of the minor new additions like air cannons and the fake bolt of lightning in the garden are nice though. Even noticed a picture in the mirror corridor with the original swamp monster in it. Saw...
If i had to guess, its because of many reasons. Dark colours n coasters don't age well. Look at the smiler, that was a bleak and shiny black when it opened 10 years ago, now its a mix of a dull grey and rust, which doesn't look all that good IMO. The bright red and black will age horribly, look...

Looks like we've got a lot more info about the retrack.
To be honest, I'm getting less and less excited as this goes on. Phalanx was never part of the original...
After having more time to think about it, it still doesn't mix well with me. This isn't the Nemesis I knew and loved, this feels like someone has just done their own thing from the ground up and only kept the nemesis brand and layout the same to keep the enthusiats pleased. If this was being...
The Curse at Alton Manor is overhyped. While it has some nice effects, the use of screens in there feel very unnecessary which removed some really impressive props.
The story is WAY too dark and serious for a family attraction personally, it's about a little girl named Emily Alton being...
From what I've heard, there's be quite a few complaints from families about it being 'too scary' for their kids. Maybe they went a bit overboard on the scare and dark factor. It makes me think how well this ride will be recieved towards GP families.
Pretty reasonable. Duel would probably be a 4 to me. The Haunted House (original) would probably get an 8.
What's funny is that Ghost Castle was also designed by Sparks (same people who did the original haunted house.) I wonder if Alton Towers maintained the original ride in the same way Europa...
I'll say it's better than Duel, but all the character of the original ride in the actual ride section is sucked out and way more intense. I wouldn't recommend it to young kids personally. From what I've heard all that was taken out from duel was scrapped 😭, so all the stuff from the original...
The problem for me is that they got rid of of too much of the original ride, and the ride feels a little more generic now with just a creepy girl and dolls. The original ride had a lot of variety in terms of creatures, while the new ride only has Emily, dolls, and a few ghouls. The OG haunted...
MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW:
So I rode it today, and I won't lie, it's a bit of a marmite situation. Some parts I really liked, some I didn't like.
The area outside is simply fantastic!!! The new gravestones in the queue really fit the vive of the original ones being really finny deaths while...
I'm curious to see if the column monster survived the makeover. It does seem the giant dolls house is build where the entrance to where the final was, but there is potential of the prop surviving since the walls for the garden are still there behind the house.
