In the accounts for that year they note that they are putting the exceptional profit down to the 5% VAT rate that was introduced for the year (so their after-VAT income was up 15% as they didn't reduce prices to offset the VAT rate change), this is now back at 20% so not expected to be repeated...
It's pretty awful. Not sure why they felt the need to produce this when they already have some nice graphics for Valhalla 2021, I mean 2022, I mean 2023 - like the nice boat design they have printed on the side of a van.
Whenever I've seen Hot Ice it has been a great show, well put together - but as Rob says, besides the opening and closing nights it's virtually empty. I hadn't realised Nick had perhaps stepped back but thinking about it - not seen him on park for a few years now (and I visit quite a lot, as a...
The difference on Grand National is amazing - although the left track (facing lift hill) needs more work - it's gone from a ride I would maybe do once a year, to something i will do multiple times every visit - added into my "Icon then PMBO" Circuit.
Big Dipper is currently getting trackwork on...
In another change of plans for me…. Won’t be at either! My plans are ruined as I developed a chest infection after spending the day in the rain at Alton Towers on Friday last week, had the week off sick and still not better yet 🙁🙁 so glad I didn’t go for the cheaper non-refundable hotel rates!
I think rethemes etc should be using modern effects etc that weren’t available when the original ride was created however sticking to the original general theme is fine, as is having a nod to some of the original features. Regarding Duel specifically, I’d like to see a modern haunted house/ghost...
So my friend is definitely doing Thorpe on Saturday so the above is now a “no” from me, however I’m going to change my Sunday plan to Chessington, partly as it’s been years since I went and also to meet up with everyone here 😊
Looking hopeful then. It’s certainly been a long time coming - by the time it’s built it’ll be over a decade since The Swarm - I can’t really hide my disappointment at the VR distraction Merlin went chasing instead of a new coaster (with DBGT and then with messing with Air at Towers). Not even...
There’s only one answer then - demolish Infusion, install the new Big One track and then put something decent in Infusion’s place 😂😂 okay I can dream, right?
Seriously though there’s probably enough room for a small crane once the Infusion lake is drained and maybe the walkway temporarily...
There’s going to be a fourth year of retrack on The Big One, according to this interview with Taziker at IAAPA, 96m of track by Infusion. Hopefully this will include that awful transition at the top of the hill between Infusion and Boulevard, which I think was caused by some poor retracking over...
For 2022 (hopefully repeated in 2023, not yet confirmed but its been running for several years now), Blackpool Pleasure Beach season passes include one free entry to:
Liseberg
Port Aventura
Europa Park
Efteling
Isla Magica
Interesting, luck would have it that I randomly booked hotel and park entry on 15th and 16th for Thorpe Park, so may be able to join on the 15th (I have an unconfirmed "yes I might want to go" off a non-coaster friend who lives vaguely "down South" for the 15th, if that doesn't work out then...
I just don’t like The Smiler. If it had fewer inversions or was a less compact layout, with something besides “loop loop loop loop loop” I’d rate it better. So for me, Saw wins as it actually does something besides inversions. Also I love Saw so that’s a big plus for me.
