It makes sense that UK theme park attendance would rise when the economy and personal finances are on average worse.
People are less likely to go abroad if struggling financially but perhaps still looking for a treat within the UK. A trip to Alton Towers or Legoland being far more financially...
As I have now ridden 69 coasters (yeah), I’ve decided to try a top ten:
Shambala - Port Aventura
Red Force (front row) - Ferrari Land
Big Thunder Mountain - Disneyland Park Paris
Expedition Everest - Animal Kingdom
Hulk - Islands of Adventure
Dragon Khan - Port Aventura
Sik - Flamingo Land
Icon...
Went to Flamingo Land yesterday with the family but with the purpose of the trip to ride Sik. Arrived at opening but with Sik not opening jumped on a few others.
Kumali remains in my opinion a decent coaster, albeit a bit short. It packs a punch and looks aesthetically pleasing over the...
Bizarre name and theme but assume it makes sense from a £££ sponsorship point of view. I suppose this also leaves open the prospect of a new sponsor / no sponsor / retheme as we have seen with sponsored rides in the past in 3 or 5 or 10 years however long this brand is signed up for.

Being in the north east of England, FL is my local park (I don’t count LWV any more, sadly…).
I do feel FL is underrated in a sense - the zoo is prettty good (better than e.g Drayton Manor) and it does have a large and diverse selection of rides on paper.
For families, the combination of kids...
The saga of the unfinished Intamin 10 looper and the journey of the parts around the world has been interesting - and surprising that Flamingo Land would build such a coaster (although logical to replace the old Corkscrew).
Bump... and my very northern list:-
1. Icon
(Big gap)
2. Nemesis
3. Air
4. Oblivion
(Big gap)
5. The Big One
7. The Ultimate
8. Odyssey
9. Millennium
10. Kumali
I haven’t been back to Towers since Air was the new ride - so many of the coasters there omitted. I need to get back there and to...
Infusion - Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Having never bothered to get in this in prior trips to BPB, finally got onboard. I’m not the most fussy with regards to roughness but you really get an ear bashing on this one. In nutshell for UK SLCs:-
- Jubilee Odyssey at Fantasy Island for scale and a wow...
Was there yesterday, some construction work looked to be going on. Couple of workers, some timber and a small digger. Looked like the entrance or exit perhaps.
We have been to FL a few times past couple of years, mainly for the zoo. From a coaster perspective, they really need this ride.
I...
I'm pretty confident guests will be happy with this edging closer to normal - if you are worried about feeling safe from COVID then I'm not sure why you would be at a theme park.
What is the expectation for Drayton? I know they have new owners following administration and have Apocalypse for sale.
Shockwave is very old - I am unsure what condition it is in...
Apologies if there is another thread on this or similar...
I am trying to get a view on current coaster rumours/construction in the UK: -
Intamin inverted coaster - Flamingo Land - 2022 (hopefully)
Project Amazon coaster ,- Chessington - 2023/2024
???
Appreciate the past year have been...
I rode it this week! Spinning Racer however was out of action.
Managed to get on Odyssey, Millenium, Rhombus Rocket and a Caterpillar though. Odyssey immediately one of my favourite UK coasters - well worth a ride.
With the only Intamin drop tower in the UK, Apocalypse at Drayton, operating but up for sale. In addition CwoA shiny new thing for 2021 in Croc Drop - we could be at a crossroads for UK tower rides.
I am not a flat ride fan but always seek out tower rides (even if just for a good view of the...
There was definitely a time 15+ years ago when LWV and FL were seen as relatively equal.
Being from the north east, Towers remains the theme park which people will travel to. FL is a different attraction with the added zoo but it has added half a dozen family/thrill coasters (appreciate most...
I was there this week - not the bank holiday Monday albeit, and didnt have any issues with queues for toilets, dirt and queues for rides were not that bad (25 mins for Velocity?).
With regard to queues though- not many respecting social distancing. The mask wearing - next to no one was in the...
Oblivion at Alton Towers is one I just cant get excited about. I suppose if you thought of it as a drop tower - fine. As a coaster the one drop (spectacular as it might be) is not a good enough package overall for me.
Odyssey at Skeggy meanwhile I really enjoyed. It felt high and fast -...
