Voltron Nevera - Europa Park
Queue / Boarding / Pre-launch
Wait times maxed out at 15 minutes for me as I went midweek during EP’s winter event and outside of Christmas holidays. Therefore, I never had to spend much time in line, but I particularly enjoyed when the tesla coils on the ceiling...
Just finished up two fantastic days at Europa Park’s winter event, so I can finally post my end-of-year rankings. Some fantastic coasters here from my big Japan trip in April and a few smaller Europe trips, as well as a new crown jewel for the UK (at last!).
Intimidator 305 - Kings Dominion...
Some more to add since my last post in 2018, plus a new favourite...
Taiga - Easily the best all-rounder. Will be hard to beat.

Velocicoaster
Taron
iSpeed
Formula Rossa
Xcelerator
Storm Runner
Top Thrill Dragster
Atlantis Adventure
Stealth
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike...

Hades 360 - organ grinder
Furius Baco - brain haemorrhage
Pinfari Zyklon Loopers - neck snappers

Kingda Ka - 128mph of ****e
Yeah I'd agree Monster is better than both Nemesis and Montu, as ugly as it looks. It's ridiculously intense. Katun still just edges it out as my favourite invert mind.
But in the Nemesis v Montu debate, I'd go Nemesis, for its tighter and overall better package of elements. Montu stands out...
I've only visited Beech Bend once, back in 2019. Can't say I was that impressed with Rumbler. It wasn't unpleasant but the tracking seemed poor and awkward at points and took away from the 'fluid' experience I've found on most other GCIs. Of the GCIs I've done that are still operational, the...
Seems to be far from a popular opinion nowadays, but EGF is still the best for me (though I am perhaps due a re-ride).
My top 10 in Europe (with placement in my overall rankings in brackets):
1. Expedition GeForce (#5)
2. Untamed (#7)
3. Ride to Happiness (#8)
4. Hyperion (#10)
5. Shambhala...
Haven‘t updated this since 2018, but I did 5 new ones in 2019. I’ve also re-ridden Wicker Man, Heidi and Wodan in 2021/22 and they’ve shuffled around a bit.
1. Troy, Toverland
2. Renegade, Valleyfair!
3. Gold Striker, California’s Great America
4. Thunderhead, Dollywood
5. Joris en de Draak...
Helix and RTH are obviously better but back to the 2 at hand…
Until my visit to Europa last week I would’ve picked Blue Fire, marginally. It feels like it’s more focused on actual elements rather than twists and turns which is (usually) my preference. It also has a better launch, better theming...
More needless hype for new Belgian coasters:
Intimidator 305 - Kings Dominion
Voyage - Holiday World
X2 - Six Flags Magic Mountain
Expedition GeForce - Holiday Park
Steel Vengeance - Cedar Point
Untamed - Walibi Holland
Phoenix - Knoebels
Ride to Happiness - Plopsaland De Panne
Twisted...
Ones that I don’t think have been mentioned yet:
Nickelodeon Universe (Log Chute)
Wiener Prater (Schwarze Mamba)
Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi (Batman: Knight Flight)
Walt Disney Studios Paris (Tower of Terror)
Movieland Park Italy (Kitt Superjet)
Disney’s California Adventure (Grizzly River...
Silver Star - tis a bit inconsistent with the trimming, but always plenty of floater to be had and the second half is better than on most B&M Hypers.
Blue Fire - more floaty than super thrilling, but the layout is beautifully engineered and the inversions / weird overbank are fab. Launch is also...
Mako
Montu
Manta
SheiKra
Expedition Everest
Revenge of the Mummy
Space Mountain
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
Kraken
Dragon Challenge: Chinese Fireball (if you don’t want to include defunct coasters, replace this with White Lightning)
1. Expedition GeForce
2. Black Mamba
3. Taron
4. Schwur des Kärnan
5. Colossos
6. Silver Star
7. Blue Fire
8. Star Trek: Operation Enterprise
9. El Toro
10. Fluch von Novgorod
Main German coasters I haven’t ridden yet are: Dynamite, F.L.Y. and Hals-über-Kopf
Found this to be surprisingly good back in 2016, so yeah I’m kinda sad that it‘s closing. Being their star attraction this does not seem like a good development for the park, unless they have something significant lined up to replace it.
