That's why I said they were a complete failure on a personal level. Only being able to get a single ride over 4 park days on either of them isn't a success for me. I know others never had an issue, but I struggled to get a ride at all.
I'm sort of at a loss as to how or why a chain would do this in such a secretive and costly way. There is no benefit to the park in closing Kingda Ka without any fanfare whatsoever. Things would be sad but at least it would have got the send off it deserved, there would be a more nostalgic...
It's probably been the busiest year for me in terms of new rollercoasters, distance travelled and parks visited.
Coaster count at the start of 2024 - 459
Coaster count at the end of 2024 - 551
Favourite new to me coaster - Voltron. A masterpiece of an attraction. It will be very hard to beat...
Voltron by a country mile. Hyperia is such a frustrating ride as it just feels incomplete. I can never shake the feeling that I've had half a ride when getting off. Voltron, particularly on the return to the station absolutely kicks your arse and is absolutely joyous.
B&M - 79
Vekoma 72
Mack - 56
Intamin - 53
Arrow - 32
Gerstaluer - 22
GCI - 15
RMC - 14
Others - 200
Total coasters ridden - 543
I'm always surprised by how high Arrow remain although, any American road trip really boosts that number along with B&M. Gerstauler feels low and I suppose because...
I'm currently at 79 and by far my favourite manufacturer and my most ridden. The reliability has been a key part of that as they've always been available on trips whilst I've missed out on several Intamins because of reliability issues.
2003) - 1. Nemesis Inferno
2004) 2. Nemesis, 3. Galactica...
I think it all comes down to the AP holders to be honest. The vast majority seem to have RAP. So when you get a ride opening day or a special event, the rides just get overwhelmed. The parks could counteract that with say, better reliability or rides on full capacity but all three of the Merlin...
I'd usually have Nemesis right at the top but as that doesn't exist in its original form anymore its fair game now.
1. Ride to Happiness
2. Toutatis
3. Untamed
4. Oz'Iris
5. Batman: Escape from Gotham
6. Blue Fire
7. Helix
8. Katun
9. Baron 1898.
10. Wodan
Europe has some stunning rides...
Vampire in particularly has done a stunning job in carrying the park really.v
I'm really excited for this area. If it can pull of the theme and the story, I think it will be a real success for the park. I think it's been really undersold how right a lot of this investment is with a big new...
One of the most dependable ride types. Even the bad ones are just average and nowhere near awful
1. Nemesis. My Number one coaster.
2. Katun. Giant but so good
3. Oz'Iris. Unique. great layout
4. Raptor. Feels downright powerful
5. Monster (Grona). loved this. Unique
6. Monster (Waly). Big...
1. Katun. Only by a tiny smidgen does this come first. Great ride.
2. Nemesis. The classic and one of the greatest rides ever built.
3. Oz'Iris. I'm a big fan of this even though I know others aren't. I love its theming which really helps.
4. Black Mamba. My memories are a little hazy as I last...
Re: Heide Park | Unknown | B&M Wing Coaster
I've always assumed its down to competition. Take the UK, The Smilers competition this year has been a Volare at Flamingoland and a safari ride at Chessington. Compare to the parks that Heide has to compete with in Germany and it naturally has to up...
1. Runaway train at Chessington
25. Oblivion
50. Silver Star
100. Bruco - Rainbow Magicland
150. Tornado - Bakken
Currently on 169 with Falken at Farup Sommerland.
I always achieved 650 (well 640) or so with three laps, the majority of the ride is spent on speeding the train up at the beginning and slowing it down at the end. The flying lap adds 25 seconds onto the ride and when you consider you do 17 complete cycles an hour, the third lap doesn't really...
Thats 650 people per hour when you have two ride staff on the platform and an operator who is particularly good at parking (and no I don't mean speed parking!). Unfortunately this is rare and it's more likely to get 400 pph as Runaway is never a priority for ride teams.
1000 per hour is...
