I think my taste changes quite a bit for wood and steel, so I'l split them up.

I really don't have many rain rides to talk about, but the couple that I have experienced were both fun.
One was Intimidator in a light rain. The speed of the coaster put it close to the border of what could be considered too painful, but in that case I thought it was fun. Something about the...
El Toro definitely has some nice head choppers.
If you're sitting in the back right section of Sheikra, there's a nice head chopper coming out of the immelmann. You pass under the MCBR, which combined with the floater from the immelmann is a nice element.
For foot choppers, only Alpengeist...
Batman is an obvious choice for me. Most people like it, but I absolutely love it, and rank it above a couple of well-liked inverts (Afterburn and Montu).
I found Intimidator's airtime to be quite good, although most seem to consider it sub-par.
Rip Ride Rockit is usually considered pretty...
Re: Six Flags Magic Mountain | Twisted Colossus | RMC Iron H
Sorry to change the topic away from the fire, but does anyone know if there are plans for some kind of braking/slowing system on the second lift to ensure the trains are dispatched in unison? It may have been mentioned in the...
That's interesting. When I was there a few years ago, Maverick consistently had longer lines that MForce. Maverick was often over 90 minutes, whereas, MForce peaked at around 45 (maybe up to an hour).
Anyway, I haven't ridden I305, so any comparison I do is just speculation. I'd argue that the...
^Yeah, EGF is the only non-American coaster that ever hits the top 10. Obviously no poll is absolutely perfect, but Mitch Hawker has a better ranking system and the results are much closer to the general consensus of the community.
Re: Cedar Point Mantis to Close October 19
^It is possible that that test-painted section was testing a new color scheme for a relocation as well though. Not sure what to think, but I would expect either conversion or relocation, not just straight demolition.

Looks like we might actually have a steel coaster win this year.
I definitely prefer Montu. Alpengeist is definitely a fun invert, but Montu is simply more intense. Alpengeist's first several inversions flow really well and have decent force, but the cobra roll is rough and the second half of the ride is lackluster. Montu's inversions have greater force...
I'm not going to fill in every category, but my year definitely had some highlights.
Best New Cred - Apollo's Chariot, honorable mentions to Griffon and White Lightning
Worst New Cred - Flying Ace Aerial Chase at Carowinds was just vile
Most Surprising Cred - not actually a new cred, but I...

Re: Chris Coasters End of Year Trip: Day 1+2 Quassy and The
Nice report so far Chris, looking forward to the rest. Quassy was the park I went to all the time growing up, so it's always interesting seeing people go there. I actually never realized how old Little Dipper is until you mentioned...

Nice report, Cookie. I've always wondered if Holiday Park was really worth going to. Prior to Sky Scream, it really seemed to have EGF and nothing else. But between your report and a couple others I read recently (ThomVD and CoasterCruiser I believe), it seems like a nice little park.
Out of...
With round 2 coming to a close today, I'd like to suggest that all clones be grouped together, not just Batman. In round 2 alone, there are 4 mega-lites and 2 blue fires, many of which will be advancing to the third round. This basically means that 4 of the 64 coasters in round 2 were redundant...
