Corks FTW!
Ok, here are my 3 points!
1) Obviously, the thrill of popping a champagne bottle over your next door neighbour's yard - bonus points if you hit/startle their cat!
2) There is much fun to be had in the various ways of opening bottles. wouldn't life be dull if all bottles were...
^Yeah. Except remember with your enterprise and frisbee analogies, the gondolas/seats are on the ring itself, so you do feel a change in force, but you're on the ring, which was my point anyway :P
Looks so tasty! I like the shady glass panels on the station, I can't think what it reminds me of but it sure looks good.
I finally watched the Aeris POV. It's better than that 'Evenoss' ride by a long way.
These points I don't agree on. X sector, IMO has one of the best themes of any park I've ever been to or read about, same with nemesis. The flume, whilst it's a silly theme, I think gives it a playful family feel, which is good because it's not meant to be a scary ride.
Towers street, again...
^^ Yeah sorry I meant the one to do with springs... spring constant? :P
^ I know, that's what I was arguing, not the exam board, that the ring would become more tense, whereas the ropes would keep a constant tension no matter how fast the rotation.
^ Yes, I agree that practically, no material will stay exactly un-stretched by force, but I think the exam board were arguing that the tension would change by a significant amount compared to the original tension.
And yes if you hang string vertically downwards, and add a kilogram of mass to...
Ok, I wasn't sure where to post this, but I figured as it's vaguely about theme parks, being a roundabout question, it could just about fit in here :P
So, we have a roundabout. This roundabout is comprised of a solid ring, held up by 8 (presumed light) ropes.
In the first question...
Whoa ploddish, was that meant to happen? Like some crazy element where they just make the track totally out of rubber?
Wobbling could be used as a fun way to slow the train down! (ie dissipating the energy)
Just to confirm, the roller coaster doesn't actually have to be travelling at >28mph as it leaves the lift chain, but before it does any elements it has to reach 28 and keep that speed?
At theme parks, no.
At fun fairs, hook the duck :D especially the ones where you get a little foam plane as your prize.
I guess if my friends wanted to play one of the games, I'd give it a go. Those loony ladder things look pretty good for a laugh with friends, but no one's ever suggested...
Oh, in addition, the minimum speed thing is between the end of the first drop and the brake run. Does that mean that I can't add a pre-lift section? This is kind of important for the idea I have.
Oh, just thought of something: what's the maximum speed for the lift hill? As in, does it have to be realistic, or can I have a Hulk-esque style lift-launch?
^ Oh! Alright I'll come first then XD I usually find I have great concepts and wild imagination, but get over ambitious and never finish the project I set out to do - the last 3 coasters I've put on the forum, two were completely unfinished and one was rough and I didn't bother smoothing it :P...
Generally, couldn't care less, want to ride it before my friends though, so I can watch their reactions instead of focusing on the experience :P
I'd probably want to ride any new ride near me within the first 6 months of it opening, just because it would still be new.
And if I someday...
If you're gonna do a knockout comp, won't that mean people who aren't so great at it (like me :P) will be left out of the action after the first round?
And since one of the reasons for a comp is to encourage people to practice coaster-making, maybe once you had a few losers, there could be a...
Get a couple fast tracks, whore the SRQ's, go to the far ends of the park first, have lunch at a different time to other people etc.
But seriously, sometimes people use SRQ's and it sucks. Once, I went, and no one was using them, and I got on each of the main rides about 7 or 8 times over...
^ I always wondered why the clock went funny when I did my teeth!
And I thought I had a magical power too... :(
Thing is though, the digital clock is displaying light. The track is not made out of pure light, so why should the track be wobbling and not the rest of the stuff in the video?
