For me, the frustration isn't about size of the coasters or lack off, after all Nemesis, Grand National and Wild Mouse (RIP) are three of my all time favourites and won't take any records for height or speed. However it's the lack of genuine thrills that grinds my gears.
Some go on about Icon...
Visited on Saturday, glorious weather which was well forecast. Park was very quiet. Nothing changed regarding Iceblast or River Caves, the Grand Prix seems to have been cleaned around the station area and the track looks spotless.
We did the Big Dipper first and decided we needed a drink...
Unless a pay per ride system returns this whole idea of scanning onto each ride I absolutely absurd, and if a PPR system does return along side a none rider pass, get on with it, and let all day ticket holders go back to wristbands instead of this BS we have today.
It's an absolute crying...
Apologies for the double post, but have actually attended the park today for the first time this year....my god!
One of the quietest weekend days I have ever seen, in very reasonable weather conditions. Longest waits of the day were Avalanche and Big One, both around 15 minutes, everything else...
I appreciate them doing this, I really do. The Grand Prix, while not anywhere near my favourite, has been there my entire life and I'd love one last lap on it, even though its probably 10 years since I actually went on it anyway! But when so many significant rides have gone in the last few...
Weather dependent would be my answer to that. Some times during the summer its bordering on false advertising as its still not dark by ride close, for me you can't beat BPB when it's packed and at night, with that old school atmosphere.
On the vast majority of occasions it filters out, as its...
The time has come for BPB to try something different, and if they are too stubborn, or too stupid, to revisit the idea of a pass that caters for those not wishing to spend all day on the rides, maybe it's time to try something else because something has got to change.
Why not adjust the park...
1.Nemesis Reborn
Brilliant coaster, now it's the complete package, absolutely love it.
2. Wicker Man
A Very close second, again a great all round package attraction and very thrilling, just doesn't quite beat the National for my number one wooden coaster.
3. Oblivion
A one trick pony, but it's...
It's been well documented that BPB, or PBR or whatever other silly names they want to call themselves at the moment have closed the Grand Prix, and it seems unlikely it will ever reopen at the moment.
I have heard various suggestions for what could replace it, ranging from a coaster to beat...
Tomahawk in PortAventura. It's a so called kids coaster, but for me it's better than Stampedia and Coaster Express, making it the best woodie in Spain.
White Lightning in Florida, packed with airtime.
Nick Streak BPB, always in the shadows of the Big Dipoer, but for me it's the better of the...
Anyone remember the Vikingar at BPB? Personally I'd say it was a coaster, and it even had a page at one point on the RCDB, however since it's closure that page was removed.
In fairness, this wasn't the case until a certain someone took charge. I feel certain that Geoffrey would have found some way to keep the Wild Mouse alive, and I know for a fact SPL wouldn't have gone the way it did. Yes he did close Frontierland, but he relocated the Mine Train and was trying...
It's sad, but it's closure is acceptable, given the quality of the ride vs the space it takes up and potentially replacement opportunities. That said, I hope the replacement arrives significantly faster than the promised developments that were to replace the Wild Mouse and Trauma Towers, unless...
I actually love BPB, and the Grand National remains my favourite wooden coaster in the country, infact its my favourite full stop, and I have a lot of time for pretty much every ride there.
The problems for me come from how the park has been operated for the last 25 years or thereabouts, and...
My original reasoning behind questioning the way they measure popularity is, back in the day, when the National dispatched a pair of trains every two and a half minutes when on a 4 train service, would have up to 48 people per race, or 96 riders on it at any given time, don't forget the trains...
Good that the Big One has opened, is Iceblast looking any different?
Can I also just bring up the E-tickets at this point. I read somewhere else that they use this data to determine which rides are popular. For me, that's a highly inaccurate way to do it. Let's look at Steeplechase for...
Contrast that to a recent interview on YouTube with a well-known coaster content creator, where a senior figure from Alton Towers says that she walked the park as a guest, stood in the main queues for rides, and rode each ride, seeing it from a guest perspective, Amanda opens the park, resides...
