Rita - I actually find Rita to be more enjoyable and thrilling than Oblivion. I get such a buzz from launch coasters <3
Furious Baco - I hated this on my first visit, but it has grown on me. It's one of those coasters you dislike, and yet feel a strange compulsion to ride endure.
I could only get to the Drayton meet unfortunately, but it was a brilliant day. Met some great new people and had a laugh. Thanks to everyone!
I think this needs posting TBH ;)
Several trips to Thorpe are a definite next year. I've been putting off going there for so long. Might as well do Chessie and the London attractions while I'm down that way, too.
Currently debating between Europa and Parque Warner...
Class coaster; I love it! That headchopper as you're going up the lifthill (I think) is genuinely terrifying. I don't think I've come away from any other coaster with bruises before, either.
^I took that picture last season, thinking they were preparing the area for a new coaster. As usual, nothing came of it. The park seem to use this patch as a temporary storage ground for parts and building materials.
That would probably be this season for me:
Dragon Khan
Shambhala
Furious Baco
Stampida
The Smiler
Grand National
Wild Mouse
Big Dipper (I actually did this years ago, so not sure if it does count as a new cred. I'll add it anyway  )
Revolution
PMBO
^I do believe you're unfamiliar with the concept of sarcasm.
Again, I honestly can't see Drayton installing any new major thrill ride for some time. They've identified their market (families) and are catering for them. Face it!
The Smiler's problems aren't related to track smoothness in any way. The latest incident is to do with inadequate drainage in the pit area, so perhaps this downtime is due to the park correcting the issue?
Whatever the case, it's unacceptable.
Just interested, but would Khan's Zero G roll be up there as one of the "fastest" inversions? It feels incredibly intense, but speed and intensity are two different things.
This whole project has been a disaster from day one. It also has to be said that three months(?) in, and the ride is already becoming quite unbearable when sitting in certain seats/trains.
Er, I'm not doubting myself? We all pretty much established on page one that the concept art turned out to be nothing more than an elaborate mock up.
Drayton don't stick to anything they say these days anyway. FTR, we were promised a new flat ride on the old Black Revolver site. The reality...
I wouldn't hold your breath for a new coaster in the next few years, let alone 2014. Drayton Manor have clearly identified their target market, and no doubt all future investment will be put into Thomas Land and the new proposed 3 star hotel.
