    Heide Park Colossos retracking (2019)

Colossos is one beast of a ride even as a barebone wooden structure. Nothing like Wicker Man really, which is all about the overall experience. Any sort of theming (or let‘s call it refreshment) will just add to an even more world class experience. Heide Park desperately needs Colossos to stay...

    WTF Merlin?

I love how out of all the possible indicators that there could be, they are bringing up a reduction in queue times and actually believe that they have a point. Like, how did this go down in front of a judge? "You can clearly see how the decrease of Smiler's average queue time from 120 to 100...

    WTF Merlin?

To be fair, Gardaland will always have a special place in my heart just for buying that thing... device... coaster... whatever you prefer. Especially in combination with the theme they chose for it (which probably originates in the similar pleasure a visit to a sawmill would provide, compared to...

Hansa Park | Highlander | Funtime Gyro Drop Tower

If I'm not mistaken, it's 6 meters. Considering that they are right up against the water (which means beachy and loamy ground) and the risk of high winds, I'm convinced the engineers did everything in their power to make this as tall as possible.

    Riding Under the Influence

If it weren't for safety-concerns (mainly due to the risk of a panic attack), a good ol' Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds experience would certainly on my bucket list. I have smoked once during one of the long summer evenings of Efteling, and I probably would only recommend a place just like...

    Phantasialand | F. L. Y. | Vekoma Launched Flying Coaster | 2020

See, I know we all want to see a POV and just the word "off-season" in your post gave me the chills, as I really can't imagine how I will cope with 3 entire months without any wall-updates. But looking at all the insane stuff that has been announced at IAAPA, and thinking how some of that will...

Carowinds | Copperhead Strike | Mack Dual Launch

My main reason for becoming a coaster-enthusiast was so that I would have an excuse for saying the word "clothoid-shaped" in everyday conversations.

    Phantasialand | F. L. Y. | Vekoma Launched Flying Coaster | 2020

I'm not convinced, I think this just means that Phantasialand has withdrawn the application to trademark F.L.Y., and as a result of that, the oppositions have been suspended since there is nothing to oppose against anymore ("suspended" in a sense of the issue has been solved extrajudicially).

    Highest Point on Launch Coasters

What's up lovely people. Been wondering about this: it's a common theme amongst launch coasters to have the highest point of the ride immediately after the launch. Think of Blue Fire's Horseshoe-Turn (what's what you'd call that, right?), Cheetah's weird meandering curves, Taron does that as...

Walibi Holland | Untamed | RMC Robin Hood Conversion

It's like this park took the Thorpe Park approach but actually remembered to have good rides planned when doing so.

Walibi Holland | Untamed | RMC Robin Hood Conversion

I love how this park is begging to be hated upon. A great representation of the target audience they are trying to reach :D

    Toverland | Fenix | B&M Wing Coaster

The name "Toverland" is a double-sided coin because it sounds like a really good name - for Germans, for Englishmen, for Frenchmen - just not for Dutchmen. I'm actually not sure if there is anything like that. I'm not even talking about theme park or ride names, but rather brand names overall...

What would your five year plan be for a park/chain?

Here we go Toverland: 2020: refurbishment of Booster Bike with a new theme and fitting trains (still with Motorbike-restraints, but maybe bird themed, as that is a present theme of the Magische Vallei area) and a maintenance-shed beneath the station (Mack-Rides style) to allow for 2-train...

    Phantasialand | F. L. Y. | Vekoma Launched Flying Coaster | 2020

That got me thinking about that whole day-and-night-experience. It's actually quite easy to create the illusion of a nighttime city, considering that Rookburgh presumably will be getting a lot of shade thanks to the high sound-barriers, so with the use of cold blueish light, it might actually...

    Phantasialand Improvements for 2018

You don't need to speak German at all, but it's also not all that related to Phantasialand. Go there if you enjoy yourself a good dinner-show at Phantasialand-level quality, not because of Phantasialand itself.

    Visiting parks with non-enthusiasts

I thought it would be funny to collect some of the experiences you make when visiting parks with non-enthusiasts. I'll start: my girlfriend finds it absolutely bizarre that coasters have names. When we visit any park, she mostly refers to coaster with their colors. For example, in Toverland...

    Heide Park Colossos retracking (2019)

I don't know, I think this is not that bad. Before this, Colossos was themed to itself: it was a large thing with a name that meant "large thing". This has a little bit more depth to it, and a woodie really doesn't need all that much. Especially a 52m tall Intamin Woodie, I would still sell my...
