Oh that's great, i much prefer not knowing too! Just wondered why, thanks!

    New attractions at Paultons Park

I've noticed with Merlin parks we typically see planning permission applications published several years ahead (eg the new rollercoaster at Chessington or Horizon at Alton Towers) which typically give at least some idea of what the attractions will be. Paultons seem to have work underway (even...

    New attractions at Paultons Park

That would be wild! Is there any indication of the budget they have? I know saying "that's too many coasters" isn't in the spirit of being an enthusiast but i'd personally prefer one big world class coaster in a well themed area with supporting rides.

It's an anonymous forum. If you have some legitimate inside information that you can share then that's great. If sharing it would identify you or breach some rules of disclosure then don't but cryptic teases with no substance add nothing to a conversation.

    New attractions at Paultons Park

It is but they said at the presentation they're looking to retain those families as they grow up so it's likely this will be the most thrilling rollercoaster in the park. Still think Hot Racer is the least likely option of those proposed as i don't think many people, particularly families want...

    New attractions at Paultons Park

As much as i love Paultons and think it's a brilliant park, i do think people are perhaps overestimating what they can or would achieve with a log flume. Whilst their theming is "nice" and well maintained, it's also very basic. A ride with a a proper narrative and animatronics would be a massive...

    New attractions at Paultons Park

Is Valhalla not considered a log flume? Considering Paultons just built a small log flume i'd be surprised if they'd add another so soon. The departing one didn't seem particularly popular whenever i visited.

    New attractions at Paultons Park

That's what makes it a great park for me. You don't need to purchase fast track to have a good day. You don't need to go in with military preparation. You can just turn up and wander about at your leisure, knowing you'll get on all the rides (and they'll all likely be working too).

    New attractions at Paultons Park

I don't know what the barometer is but pre Covid they were achieving over 1 million visitors a year and presumably it is now higher following the investments made. That makes them comparable to Drayton, Flamingo and even Chessington, especially as they're a park that is actively growing.

    New attractions at Paultons Park

I'm not sure what the obsession with enthusiasts is for Hot Racers in major theme parks, surely they're an absolute throughput nightmare and only suited to much smaller parks? They also mean people have to ride alone which seems very unsuitable for a family park. In terms of Cobra and Edge...

    New attractions at Paultons Park

I'm currently at Efteling for the first time and it feels like another world compared to the UK theme parks.... with the notable exception of Paultons. Not in terms of ride quality but the presentation. If they really are going all in with some signature rides, we could once again have a world...

    WTF Merlin?

Generalising violent crime isn't particularly constructive in this context when people are discussing a concern of public knife attacks versus say domestic incidents. ONS data for all knife crime only goes back to 2010 but it has increased every year bar one so it's not unreasonable for people...

    WTF Merlin?

I'm not sure that's true. All the data i can see shows it is at the highest since records began. This only goes up to 2017 but we know it's even higher in the years after this.

    WTF Merlin?

Have their been any positives from the Merlin acquisition of UK theme parks? Obviously we've had a handful of decent new rides in the near 20 years of ownership but does seem like it has been an overwhelmingly negative trajectory whilst their UK and European counterparts have shown more...

Universal Studios Japan: a theme park to avoid

Just stumbled across this trip report (and it is excellent i must say) as i'm visiting the park in September. Unfortunately it does seem like a lot of my worst fears were your reality. Having read a few similar reports, even though it's meant to be a "once in a lifetime" trip for me i'm trying...

Would love to know how much it's going for just out of curiosity.... garden isn't big enough sadly.

    Universal Studios Japan | Mine-Cart Madness | "Boom Coaster" {Rumour} | 2024

They typically sell the passes 2 months ahead and to my knowledge this is the first time (in recent memory) they've put a hold on them. I really can't see what else it would be for. Would be somewhat strange to open the ride the week children go back to school but then that's not really a...

    Universal Studios Japan | Mine-Cart Madness | "Boom Coaster" {Rumour} | 2024

Have done a bit of detective work with my friend in Japan and we've noticed that nowhere is selling any type of Express Pass from August 20th onwards. So i'm getting pretty optimistic....

    WTF Merlin?

Alton Towers definitely needs fewer attractions, especially indoor ones. Pretty ridiculous they haven't turned it back into a proper dark ride.
