Six Flags Qiddiya | Saudi Arabia | Theme Park

A foreign name is known. Maybe not to locals, but to international investors. I'm sure that was part of the premise of signing on with a known company. And you already get what effectively free assets. So it's a win for them and even if nobody knows what SF is out here, they know the name...

What is your favourite coaster that you’ve only ridden once?

I had to do some thinking about this because I don't keep track of individual rides... and I usually get more than 1 lap on the good coasters. A few come to mind though: - Gold Rush- Slagharen-- Got the park with only about 45 minutes to play with so just got the bare minimum. - Wonder...

Six Flags Qiddiya | Saudi Arabia | Theme Park

It is an outerbank and there should be a more extreme one at the point of the cliff coming up. Amazing to see the scale of this ride. This picture has such a better perspective than some of the ones from the ground. Should be seeing this myself next Thursday. Really excited to see the size...

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

July 13, 2024 Let’s see if we can avoid riding an SBF coaster for once! I’m getting close to finishing all the known coasters in Riyadh, which is a bit of a shame as it’s nice to have new things in an easy driving distance. But Riyadh’s a big city and there’s probably at least a few we don’t...

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

July 5, 2024 It’s been a couple weeks, but I’ve been in the process of moving to Riyadh from Dammam. It’s certainly been a process, but it’s also nice to finally have an apartment so I can settle in. Oh, and a few more coasters to be had… On my first free weekend since the move I decided to...

Six Flags Qiddiya | Saudi Arabia | Theme Park

Now that I'm living here and working on these projects, I have a better understanding of the amount of projects and levels of spend. Almost all of these are through the Private Investment Fund (PIF) and it almost certainly includes both public and private investment. There's some crazy...

Looks like I should be touring SF later this month. Excited to see the progress in person.

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

June 19, 2024 I said in the last post that I'd ridden every coaster in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia as of now. Thankfully that wasn't quite true... there was another that no enthusiast had found yet! I had actually spent a day before this searching various malls to see if I could get...

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

Oh my god you're right. How have I missed this?? Ok that's slightly more clever then. Still hilarious. 👉👈

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

June 18, 2024 I feel like I need to prove that I actually do non-coaster things every once and a while. And in this case, it's a pretty cool other thing. I drove nearly 2 hours and visited the area of Al Ahsa, and Al Qarah Mountain. This is a natural cave which cuts its way through some...

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

Yes, it appears that's what the SBNO status last year was. Lots of rides have new paint and some of the paths look like they've gotten work. I just sent a selection of pictures over to RCDB to add and I'm going to swing by the park tomorrow to get some pictures in the daylight.

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

Sunday, June 16 For the first time since arriving in KSA, I've got wheels! The process of renting a car was very very painful since I now have a Saudi resident card, but not a Saudi drivers license. In the end, I was able to use my passport and drivers license from the US, however I can't...

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

+26 mountain +45 powered But if I started counting powered coasters, what's to stop counting anything that undulates with a hot rail?? I could find a lot more I'm sure!

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

Saturday, June 8 Day 2 of the weekend and we go again. There's not actually a ton of coasters in the Dammam/Khobar area so it won't take a whole lot to complete the set. One thing I've struggled with in KSA is getting used to opening times of various parks. Everything opens late-- but often...

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

That doesn't surprise me those are SBF. Between them and Zamperla, I think they've supplied 99% of the stuff here. I actually don't mind the spinners. If you can get a nice whip coming off the corner, the spinning can be a bit fun. I've never gotten that out of a wacky worm.

Arabian Nights: Exploring the Coasters of Saudi Arabia (Part 10)

Friday, June 7. I have returned to Saudi Arabia full time as I transition to a new job in the region. As my company home office is based in Al Khobar, I'm now spending about 2 weeks on the coast before moving to Riyadh full time. And of course, making the most of that, I took day 1 of my...

    Own any coaster parts?

I was able to work out a deal with the park to acquire it for much less than that. Largely just the cost of my shipping.

    Own any coaster parts?

One kind of sketchy trip in a U-haul. Turns out a coaster car is both fairly heavy and quite awkward to maneuver. But we did it and no one got any permanent injuries...
