I didn't really see anything egregious operations-wise (can't speak for food ops, cause I avoid that at parks with the exception of beer). Perhaps I lucked into a good day? I'll agree with you on clientele, but that is par for the course at just about every Six Flags park (SFGAm is my home...
I just went to SFA, and really don't get the hate. It's a smaller park with some decent/good coasters. The wooden coasters were well maintained, Apocalypse is nowhere near as bad as you would think after reading coaster forums, the Premier launcher was better than KD's, and Superman is a fun...
Behemoth has that going on as well. Leviathan has what feels like it should be a MCBR- but it just goes right into the final brake run. I guess they wanted to keep the theme going?
Re: Vest restraints - they do suck a lot of joy out of the ride experience. I enjoyed Griffon and Sheikra a lot...
And Vortex.
Agreed. The layout looks pretty good- far and away the most inspired we've seen on this type (not exactly strong competition out there). Vest restraints on Dive Machines, though, are an idea spawned in the devil's ass.
Also, I think the color scheme is great.
I think it's a little under 2 hours from Adventureland.
I'm in Chicago, and haven't ever felt compelled to make that drive. If this actually happens, maybe that changes...eventually. Of course, with two massive CF parks (and HW) also roughly 5 hours away, there are better reasons to make that...
Really hard to see what anyone is excited about with this one, even if it weren't directly replacing Dueling Dragons. It's a launched adult-sized Rollerskater.
That is assuming the Vekoma proposal wouldn't have been altered as well. We don't (and won't) ever know.
I'm a little skeptical that an online poll was the deciding factor in such a massive investment.
I'd like to see it take the course at a higher speed as well, but it just ran it's first full circuit the other day. I imagine it'll hit it's stride before long. As for the hill before the overbank- I think promotional materials referred to it as a floater hill. Looks to be by design. The hill...
I've had very good luck over the years- biggest one was only Superman Ultimate Escape at SFWoA. No big deal, as I have V2 at my home park. I have a feeling that is going to be topped by Volcano when I go to KD late July.
Are they waiting on track to complete the turnaround? Certainly, there are other aspects of the coaster being worked on (electrical, housing, etc.), it just seems like they've avoided that section of the circuit for a while now.
