How does an S&S Screamin' Swing work?

They don't feed Colossus no more?

    Whaaaaa? When did that happen?

The only time I've known sensors to come loose is because they weren't set up properly to begin with. I agree with using torque seal though, I use the stuff even in non safety critical areas.

Drag the train out thinking noone would notice...... there's eyes everywhere I tells ye.

Clamping force is the only thing holding most rides together and is more than enough to secure a sensor against vibration (providing the correct fasteners are used) Adjustments are considered routine maintenance and therefore are relatively easy to carry out for someone with the correct tools...

    Weight of Gerstlauer Eurofighter train?

I can't share S&S documentation without their permission but I can tell you that we need to know how heavy they are in order to lift them safely with a crane. The crane we usually use has the ability to measure how much weight is on the hook too. This always comes in at 2200Kg which is the...

Icon Park - Drop Tower Accident 24/03/2022

All restraint monitoring systems can be adjusted and manufacturers provide very specific guidance on how to set up a restraint correctly. What concerned me more was the restraint opening so far with only 1.1KN of force. To put that into perspective, I tried to force a harness open to prove a...

    Weight of Gerstlauer Eurofighter train?

Heavy enough to make you swear if you drop one on your foot... I think they are around the 3 tonne mark although I've never had to lift one nor have I seen the drawings for one. I base my guess on the fact they are a little larger than S&S El Loco cars and they weigh exactly 2 tonne.

🤷‍♂️ Your guess is as good as mine, I'm just a mushroom, fed a load of **** and kept in the dark..... I've heard rumours that conflict with each other but nothing from management. If you can ride Stealth, you should be fine as the trains are identical. Each car is 200mm longer than Colossus'...

They are markers left by RCS for jobs that were still to be done as they had to get back to Poland before borders started closing. The engineer from Intamin sorted those jobs out last year before painting started.

    Cedar Point | Top Thrill 2 | Triple Launch Renovation | 2024

You are thinking of the more common drives made by Indrivetec Intamin use on their Blitz coasters. Which is true as they are wider and can handle more power. But the Intrasys stators are compatible with the existing 20mm magnet yokes, they wouldn't interfere with anything any more than the...

I think everyone is giving the public a bit too much credit here. There a quite a lot of guests who ask us about the ride, what will it be like, when will it be open etc. But almost none of them ever make the connection to Colossus. The rare few who do recognise the layout actually know that...

    Cedar Point | Top Thrill 2 | Triple Launch Renovation | 2024

😈 *rubs hands together* LSMs are an order of magnitude more efficient than they were 20 years ago. Modern drives are limited only by how much juice you can shove through them. The advantage of a hydraulic launch is that it spreads the energy requirement of the launch over about 30 seconds or...

You aren't far off, it does help protect the rope from blind cherry picker drivers but according to Intamin it is there to contain the rope if it breaks. Apparently, the lift rope on one of their rides (they didn't say which one) completely detached from the catch car when it got to the top of...

If only it were that easy 😁 Used to do it with Mumbo though, they ask for only 2 cars sometimes so I deliberately ignore it and put all 3 on instead much to the annoyance of the operators.

I agree with you, it's one of those weird management decisions that makes no sense whatsoever. Every year we ask do you want the second train on Kumali for summer? The answer is always nah. 😑

The number of trains is an ongoing issue as it was orignially sold to Hopi Hari with 3, then the broker sold it to us with 2 but only one actually showed up... The other 2 trains have literally been lost. That said, there is a possilbility one of them ended up in Turkey. The transfer track is...

What would you say if I said you have no idea just how close you are? I wondered why I was getting high off paint fumes... They just started that today, I hope it cures properly before we start testing.

As far as I know, it is going to be painted but I have yet to see the painters.... They really need to get their arses in gear because I'm putting the train on the track next week to start the comissioning work with Intaminge. Hopefully we should be making a bit more progress with it now that...
