Just to confirm something here. The SeaLife at Chessington was only meant to be a temporary investment and was made as a test-bed to see how viable Chessington World of Adventures was as an attraction. Ideas were floated around during the late Tussauds days to offload the attraction, but it was...
You say that, but there are designs for one up on the walls ‘somewhere’ within Merlin... Station replacing Depth Charge and running up into the car parks past the main entrance and back.
There’s been multiple rides drawn up recently, including said B&M Hyper as well as a Mack Hyper and a few...
I had my first dose of Pfizer on Sunday. Beat me up like I’d done a few rounds with Mike Tyson, but now I’m absolutely fine! Second ones booked in for August.
Wasn’t Golden Horse blacklisted by IAAPA or did I get that wrong? There was controversy surrounding a Chinese based manufacturer copying designs from another manufacturer a few years ago if I remember rightly. I could be wrong.
Secondly, there may be some issues when it comes to safety...
Yes, the launch system on Thunderbird was done by someone else, but that’s not the reason for hesitancy by B&M. They were worried it wouldn’t be reliable as they didn’t have the time to develop their own system. They want reliable, extremely well engineered rides. Have you ever heard of a major...
Is it just me or can you hear and see the train jolt over the joins in the track sections? It was quite off putting in the POV. Here’s hoping they smooth that out. I’d assume that video was filmed on the first test run.
Right, so I'm back home and I've had a little time to digest what was said at the consultation.
The planned new roller coaster is part of a series of investments into the park over the next few years, with other attractions likely to open before/after etc. The new ride is planned as a 1.4m...
Glad you guys are liking all my posts on Chessington Buzz from the consultation! There’s lots to digest from the plans, but from what I was getting from the team in the room, it’s likely to be a form of Wing Coaster.
I’m off out to dinner shortly, but I’ll give a full rundown when I’m back...
I think it’ll likely be we’ve got a couple of proposals that we’re looking at. This is how tall, noisy etc it will be and this is what we’ll do to negate these concerns.
It’ll primarily be to address concerns the locals have, most notable being noise and traffic. There’s been loads raised over...
^ It’s not confirmed that the plans will be available. They’re entering public consultation surrounding the development due to the fact that where they want to build isn’t technically part of their development boundary.
The public consultation starts tomorrow for 2 weeks. We’ll learn more...
That's not strictly true. Chessington had restrictions imposed, but there's nothing preventing them from removing Vampire and replacing it with a similarly scaled ride. Vampire has operational restrictions limiting to operating within certain hours, but nothing further than that. The ride cannot...
The delays with Chiapas were due to the park, not Intamin. They wanted to be able to control the levels of wetness on the ride so they could operate it year round, something which wasn’t included in the original ride brief. They had to contract Intamin to make changes to the system, some of...
^ Exactly that, yes. However I’m not 100% on the time line, it may have been a 2020/21 coaster project. Although, they are likely to have changed plans from the project as they’ve got a new creative team in the park now. So it could literally be anything coaster wise now. It’ll still be a large...
This isn’t what your call a smaller plan. This coaster project actually should’ve happened sooner, but I believe it was pushed back due to the mounting issues of Rameses Revenge and Black Buccaneer reaching the end of their operational life-spans.
The park have been pushing for a new roller...
Zufari is built on Greenbelt land. As will the approved Safari Lodges be. Then there’s Glamping, that’s on the green belt. There’s a lot of things at Chessington built on greenbelt land. It just means the park has to tackle planning in a different way. Hence the consultations.
