I suspect part of the problem is raw material cost these days.
other people on here will have a better idea of how this works but I'm assuming the Pinfari coasters built 30 years ago couldn't be built these days at anywhere near the same cost because steel prices have gone through the roof...
Also because money. What other coaster can you get for 130k? (The price Clactons Pinfari was up for) I'd be surprised if you can get anything other than a second hand Pinfari or wild mouse for that money.
This is just speculation but having seen a similar thing at The Macktory I suspect that track piece would be basically a guage test for completed chassis.
Basically a small fake track piece with the right track dimensions that allows them to check the bogies on the coaster car have been built...
Weirdly its listed as 1.9 in some places and 1.8 in others (Hell the Wiki page lists both)
It obviously opened at 2.5 seconds originally but was modified a little later.
As far as i can tell even Thorpe referenced 1.9 seconds at some point but now lists 1.8 seconds.
All a little odd. And very...
Fairly sure that's incorrect. The claims Flucht von Novgorod have the 2nd fastest launch come from it's stat 0 to 62 in 1.4 seconds but that's incorrect since it's a rolling launch and is more like 15 to 62 in 1.4 seconds. (Which puts it a fair way down the list.)
New record is probably Maxx...
No news of construction restarting but here's some photos of the Mack Water Coaster at the park currently sat in storage.
Mack having really bad luck with coasters being fabricated and not built. There's at least 2 hypers and 2 water coasters out there just sat around.
Bit of a shame. New rides are arguably inferior to the old. But I guess politics got on the way.
Definitely takes it off my map for any future visits now with 2 bog standard clones Ive ridden countless times.
So in answering my own question with a bit of googling. The LOTR theme park rights are currently owned by the Embracer group.
Yes the same group that's in enormous financial trouble since over extending themselves in the game making market during the pandemic and now have had to make 1000s of...
A bit off topic but also sort of in topic.
I seem to remember hearing a while back that Universal had the theme park rights for the LOTR universe. Surely having a LOTR land in Epic Universe would have been a slam dunk win for Universal so any idea why that didn't happen?
Of course I could be...
Anyone who remembers their plan to build a 16 looping coaster knows they've done this before.
They've called wolf before so I wouldn't get my hopes up.
It has one of the best coasters in Europe if not the world.
I love loop garou too. If you're going to get an RMC then I'd say get a ground up. Stop butchering decent woodies for them.
They've just started moving forwards with a 2nd gate for this park. It's a little way down from this one at the end of a housing development but it seems to be coming.
Existing park is top left and new park bottom right
They've also started building 3 other parks with the Dinosaur Park brand...
No way. Would love to see that.
It's funny I have this picture of it in my minds eye from when I was 7 and having seen the (very few) photos I can find of it, it looks completely different to my memories.
I had a much more fantastical image of the ride as a 7 year old than I would in my old...
