What do you like doing while waiting in lines for roller coasters?

I've never found myself in a queue so bad that it required any specific action, and often when you're having a day of constant mental stimulation it can be nice to recuperate for a few minutes. Certainly, I think all the OP's suggestions seem like overkill. Having said that, this website does...

    Underrated Dark Rides

Horribly, I'm going to come across as very old here, but a ride that seems to have disappeared into the mists of time is Greatest Show On Earth at BPB, a suspended, circus themed dark ride that stood on what is now the Burger King site. Probably rose-tinted glasses to an extent, but I remember...

    Heide Park Colossos retracking (2019)

At heart, it's almost the Ship of Theseus paradox. By that logic, you can call into question whether all the ancient woodies around the world are separate credits and if so, at what point they can be considered to be 'new'. Personally, I don't have a hard and fast rule, I'd do it on a...

Sumer Is I-Cumen In - Alton Towers, 14/09/18

Yes! I never got to see them, I went a few years later and they were gone. But yeah, Burrowhead is an amazing location with those cliffs. I always thought the flat area where they stand and sing seems much smaller in real life than it does in the film!

Sumer Is I-Cumen In - Alton Towers, 14/09/18

As I've sounded off about in the WTF Merlin thread, Alton is a right pain to visit for a solo rider who doesn't drive. Incomprehensible/non-existent off peak buses, no single rider queues, stupid 10-4 opening times and incorrect info on the website all adds up to a veritable ballache to sort...

Small News From The Theme Park Industry

That's an excellent response from Merlin imo. This continual muck raking really is ****ing tiresome.

Small News From The Theme Park Industry

More Smiler legal ramifications today - the two main victims are sueing: Http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-45572981 I did feel a bit weary and concerned for Merlin after all the cuts they've had to make in light of the £5m fine, so another £4m worried me. But then I...

    Best family ride hardware

Hah! Have to admit I rather fancy the look of the Orkanen-type Vekoma SFCs - hope they're as good as they look.

Most New Credits in One Year?

Financially and practically I find it tricky to rack them up like most on here, but I've reached 21 so far this year which is by far my best. Hoping to take it up to 22 if Wicker Man plays ball on Friday (or even 23 if I feel like grabbing the Octonauts credit)!

    Best family ride hardware

I was thinking today that certain family ride models seem really well suited to parks wanting to make lower-cost but unique attractions. Mack Splash Battles, for example, seem like a cost effective way to have a solid/reasonable ride experience but also give room for distinctive theming and...

    WTF Merlin?

Yes, below the unequivocal statement that "There is also a daily X52 bus service that runs from Nottingham and Derby". Daily means at least once per day. They also give only one exception for the First route, saying they operate departures from Stoke amd Uttoxeter "except Sundays". Given that...

    WTF Merlin?

This is true, though it is somewhat annoying that AT's website does say that buses are available without any caveats.

    WTF Merlin?

Oh for pity's sake. Further to that and against my better judgement, I took this Friday off, and lo and behold, there are now NO BUSES running from the park to anywhere until Scarefest, despite their website saying there will be. W T ACTUAL F, Merlin?!

    The best Rollercoaster soundtrack?

I've always actually been slightly disappointed in Oblivion's music. It's inextricably linked to the ride now, of course, but I feel like the 90s electronic music has not dated especially well and doesn't do much to reflect the ominous, frightening theme (except that opening "BOOM, B-BOOM...

How do you deal with your “loose articles”?

I carry a shoulder bag with me wherever I go (not just parks - means I'm never too far from a phone charger or some Stephen King), so I just put everything in that and leave it behind at the station before I go. I wear glasses and take them off on anything I gauge to be wilder than the Grand...

    WTF Merlin?

Ok, I need a little rant here. I run a craft beer shop for a living. As such, I need to work on Fridays and Saturdays because thoseo are our busiest days. To offset that, I take Wed/Sun off instead of Sat/Sun. I don't drive yet and don't have masses of cash to throw around, but now that the...

B&M vs RMC: the best manufacturer

I get what you're saying, but I'd argue that in a ''pound-for-pound" kind of way, Mack are up there. Their stuff isn't the most expensive or the most extreme in terms of stats, but they're of extremely consistent quality, which I'd argue many manufacturers aren't.

    Hardest final brake run slam?

Steeplechase at Blackpool has a violent grab just as you pass the queue staircases. Since taking up mountain biking and knowing how to brace myself and absorb impacts, I've found it a lot better!
