S&S Axis Coaster for Saudi Arabia FEC's

So, the coaster is... not big at all. In fact, it's incredibly small. And despite my want for a larger product I am here for it;

  • Transformers parks will be FEC's. A single 8 passenger train leaves less to be desired, but the size should overall do it. Maybe S&S really should go into the FEC business with this, lower those prices and produce in bulk (exact case here), you never know who'd pick it up 🤣
  • S&S has a rep right now for building notoriously troublesome pieces of hardware, which has been costing them sales lately (particularly in North America, where Steel Curtain continues to unimpress). Downsizing seems to be a good step towards ensuring these rides work, as they MUST be able to deliver to a client like this.
  • Small footprint and cost means that if these really do **** the bed, SEVEN can remove the ride without too much loss and easily find a replacement. In the circumstance that it does work as intended, they may have a win on their hands.
  • The handful of people adamantly vowing to never travel to Saudi Arabia won't miss out on too much with this ride.
Overall the coaster is more of a novelty rather than a thorough ride experience, but I'll be sure to hit it up when I do venture out to the Middle East and hope this is a good step towards getting S&S back on track, as well as more so proving the viability of what could be a pretty cool coaster.

It's been elaborated that there will be three of these things, all very different from one another;
  1. Riyadh (Al Madha) - Displayed at IAAPA (in the post above), will be 14m tall (somehow), 238m long, and run the two lap cycle via launch track.
  2. Dammam - 45-degree lift hill and 261m long
  3. Jeddah - Will be triple-launched, presumably a swing motion
There's another entry listed on RCDB for Yanbu with a 35mph launch but that hasn't been verified elsewhere at this time.

First official look at the Al Hamra / IAAPA layout mostly set up indoors. It’s firmly a 2026;

Have they fully confirmed 2026? Last I spoke to the SEVEN management team, this was being pushed to open in 2025 (albeit later 25). May be published as 26 with the internal goal of 25.

This is about 10 minutes from my apartment and I drive by it frequently. Not much new to see on the outside, but it's an impressive facility.

I was an an IAAPA tour of this facility a few weeks ago. It's funny how small this coaster looks-- just kind of tucked away in the corner. VERY tight clearances with the wall of the building. Honestly surprised me how close it was. Most of the rides are in now-- there's a disko coaster, Nebulaz, Triotech dark ride, and a few others. I think it was like 11 in total. Long way to go on theming and finishes, but the structure is probably 80% there. This facility was confirmed as a 2026, though 2 other SEVEN's will open in this year in smaller markets.

This isn't really Axis related but SBF Visa have lately set up an unusually large Big Air coaster. Commissioning has taken place at their factory;

Given several characteristics (spider web cars, unusually high elevation, the layout fitting in a box, some track mounts being built onto a superstructure), I think this is also for Saudi Entertainment Ventures. A couple of their locations (Yanbu) are developing Little Beasties FEC's with SBF Visa rides to be featured;

I would expect you're right. Pretty much every SEVEN location appears as if it will have a kids area with some variety of SBF coaster. Supposedly Yanbu and a few other ancillary cities were supposed to be opening this year. Yanbu's exterior looked done the last I'd seen, but the interior fitout could be delayed. On the whole, a lot of the SEVENs are delayed or slowed it seems. Since being absorbed under Qiddiya there's a bit of a shakeup happening and internally it sounds a bit of a mess at the moment.

Riyadh Al Hamra-- the one with the first Axis-- is moving along on the exterior but seems like progress has slowed quite a bit. I would estimate it will not be ready until mid to late 2026. I drive by this one fairly often but it's hard to see any interior progress at this point.

Riyadh Al Nahda, which has an indoor ski slope, is further behind that with the building still very much in the early structural phases and is not close to being dried-in. This seems to be 2027-8. I drove by this one last weekend and the big framework for the ski slope is going up but is maybe only half to 2/3 complete.

Dammam, which should have the 2nd Axis and has a full waterpark has foundations in the ground now for a few structures, just piles for others, and just groundwork for the rest. When I was over there a year ago, they were doing soil borings, so the progress feels quite slow.

Khobar-- just south of Dammam-- also appears to be just at the piles stage.

Tabuk, Taif, Jazan, Yanbu, and Abha all seem to be the further along though lacking larger ride components like big coasters or waterparks. These will all most likely have an SBF of some variety.
