I would say I am one that makes a distinction between 'violent' and 'rough'.
The perfect woodie is one that is smooth in that there is minimal jackhammering or unwanted jolts, but 'violent' in that it offers an abundance of g's in all directions - positive, negative, and of course lateral...
First, I just want to say great analysis! Those charts are just...mesmerizing haha.
So anyways, I have some cool info with regards to the idea of a floorless B&M Giga. There is that new history book out on KI (A Ride Through TIme for those who haven't heard of it).
In the part that discusses...
I'd say I'm decently tolerant of roughness, up to a point...
I don't take much issue with The Beast and Racer's roughness. I also enjoy Wildcat at Hersheypark, and that has a reputation of being pretty rough.
The only two woodies I've ridden that I'd write off entirely due to roughness would...
Yeah, I mean I don't really get the outrage either, especially considering how much influence Intamin has had on what other manufacturers do throughout history. If anything, other manufacturers have borrowed and built upon Intamin's ideas/concepts moreso than the other way around.
All things...
Well hey, glad I'm not the only one who digs the theming. Sure, it ain't Disney. But...neither are the ticket prices. So, fair compromise if you ask me!
As for your thoughts on the ride itself. Yeah can't say I didn't see that coming. I just had this sense all throughout reading your review...
Hmm.
It seems I'm split into both camps at the same time on this.
One one hand, I still fully agree with all the critiques, criticisms, and qualms regarding the ride's layout/stats. Yes, its still disappointing that its not actually 300 ft, not a long ride, and has mediocre elements etc. I get...
Yes, the outside is rather dull, but I am intrigued for the Quonset and custom music.
Interesting fact: Orion and Mystic Timbers are the only coasters this side of the pond to feature IMAscores.
Honestly, I think that above all else was the key mistake. If they'd just chose standard T-bar trains, it'd probably be much more widely praised by the GP, and universally praised by enthusiasts...
I'll chime in on this one. I'd describe the opinions on KI to be more "polarizing" than necessarily 'low', in that yes, for as many people that consider it to be one of their least favorite parks, there are a lot who consider it one of their favorite parks.
And I'd say that has to do with their...
For me, Orion's biggest uphill battle will be overcoming the ridiculously short length.
Ugh. I mean if you don't wanna go all that imaginative in terms of elements then fine, and if you wanna use the terrain to get to a 300ft drop instead of making the actual lift >300, that's ok too I guess...
Coaster I like that others don't:
Rougarou at Cedar Point
I have heard some pretty negative things about this ride, so much to the point that I question whether I'm riding the same coaster others are. The layout is solid, and I have never had a rough or headbangy experience on it. Granted, I...
