My mom and I revisited Sylvan Beach, a historic beachside park. It's the nearest park to me--just a short 10 minute drive north. It has only 1 coaster and a few flat rides, but thanks to the nature of the park being more historic, all of them are classics. I've been here several times before and even worked one of the games, so I'm no stranger here.
All of the parking around the park is pay-to-park, a small hindrance, but I don't mind. The park itself uses a ticket system at about $1 per ticket. Most rides take 3-4 tickets though. I got the armband, which, while $25, was a better deal overall and more convenient than having to rip off tickets for every ride.
My mom sat out for all of the rides. She really doesn't really do thrill rides, which is fine. I needed a someone to hold on to my stuff for a few rides anyway.
The first ride of the day was Bomber, a super intense Roll-o-Plane. The positve and lateral G's are out of control--it really flings you around, forwards and backwards. The ride duration is actually pretty respectable, clocking in at about 2-3 minutes. As fun as it is, though, I wish it had some padding on the side, as my arm started to get sore from being pressed up against the side.
Next stop, Kahuna's! It's the only restaurant in the immediate park besides Yesterday's Royal, which is currently closed for renovations. There are however, other restaurants nearby, so there are other options.
Anyways, the burgers there are phenomenal! I got the pirate burger (cheese, bacon, barbecue sauce, and onion rings) and my mom got cheese fries. We also got large drinks, but the cups are, as my mom put it, the size of a swimming pool.
After lunch, we went back to the rides, first to Tip Top, then bumper cars, Tilt-a-Whirl, and then Super Himalaya. Oh boy, Super Himalaya...
This thing is wacky, ridiculous, crazy, wild, out-of-control, *and then some*. Its intensity is just through the roof! I was barely in the seat for most of the ride. The airtime, laterals, and horizontal G's are insane! If it weren't for the lap bar, i probably would have been thrown off! Definitely my favorite flat ride in the park.
And now we move on to the only coaster in the park: Galaxi.
OK, I know some of you just shuddered at the sound of that name, but please hear me out. While it is a Zyklon layout, it is technically not a Pinfari as it was built by S.D.C. Despite this, however, it is actually pretty smooth, with only a little vibration. It is best ridden in the back row, as all of the airtime is there. It certainly helps that there are no seatbelts and has lap bars that are more like waist bars. The ride op was also pretty a cool dude, cheering us on and saying "Let's coast" every dispatch. Though it may not be much, it's a perfect fit for the park. It's quaint and historic, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Lastly, I rode Scrambler (which was running much faster than I remembered) and a nearly at full load Rock-o-Plane. It took a while to get loaded, but it eventually got going, and going it got. You can do some crazy flips on this if you lock the cars at the right times
The park also has a Pretzel dark ride, Laff Land. I've ridden it once before, but I skipped out on it this time because I wasn't wearing my brown pants. Unlike some of them it is legitimately scary, but then again, I might just a wimp when it comes to them...
To round out the day, We played some ski-ball at Playland and went over the canal to feed the ducks. They were fighting over the bread like they were starving. I can't help but think that we started bit of a clan war...
This one jumped out of the water and was quite photogenic. I swear he was posing for the camera!
