New York City announced plans to bring a new Log Flume, Ropes Course Adventure Park, Public Plaza, and Arcade to Historic Coney Island Boardwalk. The expansion of Luna Park, run by Zamperla, will take place over the next two years and when complete will increase from 300,000 square feet (27,871 m2) to 450,000 square feet (41,806 m2). Six Flags Magic Mountain opened CraZanity, the park’s new record breaking swinging pendulum ride. The Zamperla Giant Discovery seats 40 riders along a ring-shaped gondola that swings back and forth as it rotates, eventually swinging up to 170 feet (52m) in the air at speeds of 75 mph (120 km/h), making it the tallest and fastest ride of its type in the world. Louisville, Kentucky, USA
On the heels of a very successful season, Kentucky Kingdom announced the park’s lineup of new attractions for 2018. These include a new “Scream Xtreme” Zamperla Endeavour thrill ride, a new “Rock ‘n’ Roller” family ride, and two new films for the 5D Cinema, “Happy Family, The Ride” and “Journey 2 the Mysterious Island,” the latter starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
