Phoenix to rise over Coney Island

After being closed for the iconic Ferris Wheel’s 100th Anniversary year due to COVID-19, Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park will be adding a new Vekoma family suspended coaster in 2021. Maurer Spinner for Adventureland

Altoona, Iowa, USA

Adventureland near Des Moines, Iowa announced the addition of The Phoenix, a Maurer Rides Spinning Coaster, for the 2019 season. According to park spokesperson Molly Vincent, the coaster will be over 50 feet (15m) tall and reach a top speed of 40 mph (64 km/h) leading to speculation that it will be a SC2000 model. Fēnix opens at Toverland

Sevenum, Limburg, Netherlands

Attractiepark Toverland opened Fēnix, their new €17 million Bolliger & Mabillard wing coaster and the park’s largest single attraction investment. Standing 131 feet (40m) tall, with a top speed of 59 mph (95 km/h), Fēnix features three inversions: a dive drop, an Immelmann and a zero-g roll as well as plenty of near misses in a gorgeous setting.
