Massive Fire at Europa Park

Some 25,000 people had to be evacuated and seven firefighters were injured in efforts to put out a massive fire at Germany’s largest amusement park. No guests or employees were injured during the blaze at Europa Park, that completely destroyed the Pirates of Batavia boat ride as well large sections as the surrounding Dutch and Scandinavian-themed areas. The train ride’s engine caught fire injuring two park employees and a guest. The park said no guests were on the ride, but one who received an injury from the incident was treated at the park’s medical center and released. The employees were taken to a hospital as a precaution. Source

A raging fire broke out overnight at Farrari Land, PortAventura Park’s 807,300 square feet (75,000 sq/m) sister park scheduled to open on April 7, 2017. No injuries were reported and the full extent of the damage caused by the fire is not immediately known, but there was extensive damage to several structures including the Venetian Campanile and Ferrari Experience buildings as well as one of the two S&S combo drop towers. High winds and extreme drought conditions sparked wildfires in the Great Smoky Mountains surrounding Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, but Dollywood theme park, its Splash Country water park and DreamMore Resort were spared any damage.
Overnight staff evacuated families staying in 50 of the resort’s rooms and 19 of the park’s Smoky Mountain Cabins, some of which were damaged or destroyed by the fires.
